Honda Exhibits World Premiere of New Concept Model "BULLDOG"...

OSAKA, Japan, March 20, 2015 - Honda today unveiled the world premiere of the BULLDOG as an exhibition model (concept model) at a press conference, at the 31st Osaka Motorcycle Show 2015.

The BULLDOG promotes a new world of leisure with motorcycles. The model was developed with the concept "Loveable Touring Partner," and was designed to go beyond the boundaries of conventional leisure motorcycles, to actively enjoy outdoor life.

The BULLDOG's 15-inch wide-tires and low center-of-gravity realize a low, 730mm seat height, ensuring a solid footing. It's unique robust, yet charming styling undoubtedly brings smiles to the faces of not only riders, but people who don't usually ride motorcycles.

The liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC inline 2-cylinder 400cc engine has powerful, yet easy to handle output characteristics, realizing a nimble ride in a wide range of environments from urban to rural areas.

The BULLDOG is equipped with a carrier suitable for camping-touring, and features accessory storage on the sides of the fuel tank, which also act as a styling accent.

The BULLDOG, a playful, next-era concept model, will be exhibited at 42nd Tokyo Motorcycle Show from Friday, March 27 to Sunday, March 29 at Tokyo Big Sight.

Looks like a tremendous amount of fun.

Unpretentious, durable, get it dirty and beat up and don't care, fun.

I hope it functions like it looks.

Safe Travels,
Richard

What an excellent platform for a weekend in the dirt or sand! This looks a lot less fragile than other endures, and where it's a Honda you know it's bulletproof. Most enduros just look like an opportunity for busted turn signals and ruined plastic, but this porky little piggy looks ready for a beating. Be a ton of fun.

Cool.

15 inch wheels, low ground clearance, limited suspension travel, and it's supposed to go off-road? Ummm...... no. And it's fugly to boot.

"Loveable touring partner" probably looks different in Japanese characters.

"It's unique robust, yet charming styling undoubtedly brings smiles to the faces of not only riders, but people who don't usually ride motorcycles." Well, yeah. It does look funny now that you mention it.

It does look like it would be fun to mess around with off road but it looks so damn heavy I would have considerations about how far I went off said road. As my drawing teacher used to say, "It survives better as an idea..."

I think "people who don't usually ride motorcycles" is the key to the whole thing, along with the DN-01, the NM4 Vultus, and other assorted recent oddities from Honda. This thing isn't intended for us. It's for people who don't ride yet, and don't have preconceptions about what works (..... or in this case, what doesn't work).

As a shortie, I appreciate an off pavement bike that doesn't have a stratospherically high seat height, but 730mm (and the accompanying lack of ground clearance) is a bit ridiculous. Aside from severely limiting the practicality of this bike, the low to the ground stance just completely clashes with the tough, outdoorsy looks.

Oh well, proof yet again (and this is meant with great affection) that the Japanese still have a lot of WTF left up their sleeves.
