The new Hyosung GD250R – innovative e-mobility on two wheels...

Coming soon from Korea is an all new 250cc platform, the GD250 series, which will feature a naked and sport version. The GD250 is a lightweight, nimble street bike allowing all riders (beginners and experienced) to experience the true essence of sport riding

2017 Hyosung GD250R http://www.Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

EZ-suit system. (Switchable riding position to suit various lifestyles.)

Super sports position
- Focus on sports riding.
- Excellent controllability.

Street sports position
- Focus on daily street riding.
- Excellent accessibility.

Layout (Mass centralization - to the center of gravity of vehicle)

- Engine is located near in the steering head.
- Fuel tank is located near in the COG.
- Muffler is located below the swingarm pivot.
- Electric equipment unit is located near in the steering head.

Frame

- X-5's steel tubular trellis frame is designed to connect directly between the steering head and
pivot. Its compact size reduces weight while enhancing the rigidity of the frame.

- X-5 is equipped with a long 553mm swingarm coupled with the short 1340mm wheelbase.
These features combine to provide a dynamic steering characteristic and constant movement of the
suspension.

Muffler

- Silencer located below the swingarm pivot which improves mass centralization.
Centralized muffler having optimized center of gravity gives X-5 more active handling.

Fuel tank

- Fuel tank located near in the COG. which improves weight centralization.
- Fuel tank is tilted toward swingarm pivot, the fuel always gathers around the center of gravity.
This feature provides natural steering character by reducing the amount of front / rear weight transfer.
- Fuel tank is made from plastic for weight reduction.

Brake

- F : Ø 300mm single disc, opposed 4 piston caliper.
- R : Ø 230mm single disc, opposed 2 piston caliper.

Suspension

- F : Ø 37mm upside down telescopic fork (120mm travel)
- R : Dual side Aluminum Swing arm with Gas charged Hydraulic shock absorber
(Nonstep Preload adjustable)
- The monocross shock absorber is laterally mounted because this solution frees up space to the
centrally located fuel tank, allowing perfectly symmetrical weight distribution.
The lateral shock absorber is pivoted directly on the swingarm.

Electric equipment unit box

- Electric equipment unit box is located at the top of the cylinder head. It contains battery, ECU,
relay, fuse, regulator, sensor, etc.
- This unit construction improves maintainability while reducing weight by shortening the harness
and reducing the number of brackets.

I would like to see the naked version.

I will say that my wife has a GT250 Comet and really likes it.

The GD series is supposed to be all new engineering. But I can't find out much detailed info about them on the internet. I'll give it a cautious "cool", I'm glad to see Hyosung making serious investment in new designs.

This doesn't look half bad, actually. Cautious cool for me. Plus I've never seen this feature on a bike:

Intriguing. I wonder how different will the actual positions be. Do you get both handlebars and clip-ons, and two pairs of rear sets? Seems useful, especially for this displacement/price class. Use the "street" position for commuting and touring, and the super sports position for Sunday morning canyon carving.

She has had it a few years now...I think about 25,000 miles total. Near as I can tell, it's pretty close to a Bandit 250.

Unlike most 250s, it's not a mini-bike...it's a normal-sized motorcycle and actually has a pretty high (31") seat.

It's probably parked until spring...needs a chain & sprockets.

I voted Awesome.

I think it's great that a company like Hyosung, who has produced some "questionable" bikes in the past has really started stepping up in the past 6 years and offering better and better bikes, all at a good discount, and the new GD series shows what Hyosung can do... I personally think it won't be long (10 years) till Hyosung becomes like a Honda or Hyundai or KIA, good cars at good prices.

What also impresses me is that Hyosung has had quite a lot of headwinds to get this far, they have been unfairly slaged in the media and it's been tough to keep putting in R&D when they don't sell that many models (in North America). So to get this far, that's amazing and it gives riders a great budget bike choice that isn't bad at all.
