The Ultimate Sport, In Timeless Styling...

The Suzuki Hayabusa is quite simply the Ultimate Sportbike. Twist the throttle and it responds with awesome acceleration and crisp throttle response in every gear with an unbelievable top-end charge. Thanks to a lightweight and rigid twin-spar aluminum frame and state-of-the-art suspension, that performance is matched by equally impressive handling, providing exceptional control in tight corners, reassuring stability in sweeping turns and a smooth ride on the highway.

More than a decade ago, Suzuki developed a machine so unique that it instantly attracted a devoted following around the world. Like its namesake, the Japanese peregrine falcon, the Hayabusa is famed for cutting through the air with incredible agility and performance.

Through countless engineering refinements of the original design, the Hayabusa spirit has endured. The Hayabusa features Brembo Monobloc high-performance calipers and an Antilock Brake System*. Its incomparable performance delivers a fun and sporty ride at any speed, setting the bar high for rivals and defining the “Ultimate Sport Bike.” The radically original yet timeless styling also reflects the spirit of the person who owns a Hayabusa. Its sensational power, speed, smooth ride and overwhelming presence continue to fascinate owners and onlookers alike. Because the Hayabusa is, and always will be, the ultimate sport bike.

2016 Suzuki Hayabusa http://www.Totalmotorcycle.com Key Features

KEY FEATURES
Lighter and more rigid than conventional bolt-together calipers, the Hayabusa's top-of-the-line radial-mount Brembo Monobloc front brake calipers deliver better feedback to the rider. Piston diameter was enlarged from 32-30mm to 32-32mm. Larger pistons help apply greater force to the brake disc, which results in increased initial bite and a more controlled feeling

The standard equipment Antilock Brake System* (ABS) unit features a lightweight, compact design. The ABS enhances brake performance by helping prevent, to a certain extent, wheel locking due to changes in road conditions or excessive braking, by matching stopping power to available traction.

*The ABS is a supplemental device for brake operation, not a device for shortening stopping distance. Always remember to reduce speed sufficiently before approaching curves

2016 Suzuki Hayabusa http://www.Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

ENGINE FEATURES
1 Powerful 1340cc in-line 4-cylinder fuel-injected, liquid-cooled DOHC engine built to deliver a broad wave of torque for effortless acceleration.

Forged three-ring aluminum-alloy slipper pistons provide superior strength, while PVD-coated rings reduce friction and improve cylinder sealing.

The chrome nitride Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) piston ring coating is harder and smoother than conventional chrome plating, reducing friction while improving sealing to the cylinder.

Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) cylinder plating improves heat dissipation, durability and ring seal.

U-shaped cutouts in the cylinder-bore sides allow air pressure created by descending pistons to escape to adjacent cylinders to reduce internal pumping pressure and mechanical power losses.

Lightweight titanium valves allow use of light valve springs and high lift while maintaining accurate valve control.

Iridium spark plugs produce more complete combustion and last longer than conventional plugs.

Curved radiator with a compact, dense-core design and two ECM-controlled electric fans keep the engine temperature stable.

Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) serves as back-torque-limiting system for smooth downshifts and also contributes to a light clutch pull.

Close ratio, constant-mesh 6-speed transmission uses dedicated oil spray to the 4th, 5th and 6th gears to reduce friction, wear and mechanical noise during high-speed operation.

Suzuki's advanced fuel-injection system with tapered, 44mm double-barrel Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) induction improves combustion efficiency and smooth's throttle response.

Two 12-hole fine-spray injectors on each throttle body improve fuel atomization for better combustion efficiency while reducing fuel consumption.

Idle Speed Control (ISC) system improves cold starting and helps maintain stable engine idle under a variety of conditions.

Suzuki Pulsed-secondary AIR-injection (PAIR) system ignites unburned hydrocarbons (HC) and reduces carbon monoxide (CO) emissions.

Large-volume catalyzer in the twin-silencer exhaust permits high flow while further reducing HC, CO and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.

2 Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) lets riders select engine power output to match preferences or riding conditions.

Gave it a cool, however she is getting a bit dated and is slowly turning into a niche/image/status bike.......sort like the way HD is among a sub-set of the cruiser crowd.

This bike is one of the better arguments for tiered motorcycle licensing and a hard limit on power, displacement, and top speed. Why noy just buy a fifth of vodka, a bottle of sleeping pills, and some rx? At least that method of suicide would be cheaper.

Love it, the adrenaline rush on this kind of bike is great. I agree with Jarlaxle that it is a dangerous bike if you are not very careful. It is easy to get in over your head. The great brakes on my zx14 saved me more than once when I got on it a little hot. On the busa forums they are anxiously waiting for a updated generation with more power-more current features (mostly more power). Only thing I don't understand is how you could own one for very many years and not get a speeding ticket that would be very painful.

Despite what some scooter fans in this thread might have you believe, the Busa is actually fairly forgiving in the context of open class sportbikes. Definitely more so than my much beloved BMW K bike.

I went with Cool. Although, like many have said, it's so dated (for a sportbike) that it is almost uncool now thanks to Suzuki's "almost abandonment" approach.

There was a time, when big-ballsy sport touring bikes were the rage, the VFR1200, the Ninja 14R, 'Busa, FJR1300, K1600... but it seems the market moved on, and the next "big-thing" was adventure bikes, which moved onto retro naked and now it seems we are into "scramblers"... might we see the return of sport-touring again? Maybe. But I'm not seeing much evidence of that right now. We are exploring off-road more than on. Maybe there are just TOO MANY models out there right now and we can't update/appreciate what we do have? ie. Do we really need 80 Honda models?

Ok, back to the 'Busa. It's a great idea, big inline-4, more "comfortable" riding position, good seat. Not too expensive today either.

I'd like to see an update all-around, the body fairing is a tad bubbly (I've never like the back-end "vespa" inspired rear), it could lose some of it's mass and get a more modern frame and gain some riding modes, even traction control. I don't think it needs more power, but maybe more touring bag functionality. Basically, a refinement of what we have now.

Your Coolness Factor of the 2016 Suzuki Hayabusa is:

Awesome (3 points) 29% [ 7 ]
Cool (2 points) 38% [ 9 ]
Uncool (1 point) 21% [ 5 ]
Fail (0 point) 13% [ 3 ]

Total votes: 24

= a Coolwall Factor of 61.1%

Notes: The 2016 Suzuki Hayabusa was a tough one to vote on for our members. I can see they really WANTED to like the bike but were struggling to. Like a computer, a sportbike NEEDS to be updated, current, modern, and the 2016 Suzuki Hayabusa just isn't anymore. Suzuki has seemingly left the 'Busa out to pasture while concentrating on other models. Riders are not out of the blame either as they are off buying other styles of bikes more popular than the sport-tourers. So now what? I can't see an update till the market comes back to sport-touring or sport-touring comes to back in style...

Get excited as the next TMW Cool Wall bike for 2016 is now up for voting and discussion, have fun!

Hey, I missed this. Would've voted cool. It's so weird that they're still making the Eye Abuser. Add the Kawasaki ZX-14 to that short list of megabruisers that essentially weren't updated since they launched in the mid 2000s. The Honda CBR1100XX and BMW K1200S ended production. I guess times have changed and people are moved in two directions; bikes that are more versatile (tall, fast sport tourers like Ducati's Multistrada or BMWs S1000XR) or bikes that are more focused and arguably have more fun handling (literbikes).
