Testing a KTM 520

#1 Unread post by CentralOzzy »

Today my Mate Colin & I went out to Test ride a 2nd hand KTM 520 (?) that he might buy. In fact I was thinking of buying a dirt bike again some day, but then again I WANY EVERY THING! (with 2 wheels)

Anyway, we went over to a Local M/C haunt & I took these pix of Colin tryin it out.

Colin hasn't been on a Trail bike for ages & considering, he did quite well, he only came off once with a minor slide out, no big deal.

The Location has kinda inspired me to seriously think about an off road machine for myself as we have unlimited riding places here in Outback Alice Springs.

There were a few other riders around, not many for a sunday & most of them were wearing very little in the way of protection

The 520 KTM's are fantastic bikes. Nice chassis' and mongo motors... Well built and last better than the japanese bikes tend too.

But that ain't your friend Colin... that last pic is Dwayne, Boyd Cottington's shop manager from American Hotrod.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

What did you think of the weight of the KTM? how does it compare to the japanese 450s and 650s?

I have an 02 520EXC, I'm not a huge stickler on weight but compared to the other 400 class bikes I've rode (XR400, YZ426, DZ400) it is much lighter. It might be just the overall build of the bike but it dominates everything.
