it's set at the softest setting but it's an aftermarket shock...i have the box for it (which holds the stock shocks) but that's in another box with the rest of the stock parts. I don't remember the brand. The suspension is fine (major upgrade from the stock shocks of the xl). It's the limited lean clearance that is kind of annoying me. I'll probably get used to it and lean less into turns as time goes on.

The lean clearance was great on the sporty. I have scraped my pipe and pegs before but that's at a much sharper angle than the vrod allows.

That's good as the stock shock is a piece of dodo, and an aftermarket shock would have been an mandatory upgrade so the previous owner saved you some money right there.

Yes agreed on the very limited lean clearance but actually you would be surprised how much less scraping you would do by stiffening the rear shock.

Interesting, thanks for the tip...i'll knock the setting up to the top notch then and let you know how it works. I was out yesterday and was about to tear around a curve like I usually do on the sporty then decided not to. All I heard was a scraping sound and a part of my soul withering away. :crybaby: :frusty:

I got a great great deal on the bike though either way. 12,000 for a vrod with less than 700 miles and a bunch of aftermarket stuff? YOu can beat that right?

I just noticed that you said you have it in the softest setting. How much do you weight?

You are no heavyweight but certainly probably waaay too heavy for the softest setting. I don't recall the VRod scraping the pegs that easily..... and especially with aftermarket shocks.

You should see a noticeable difference once you set it stiffer. Just don't expect the cornering clearance of a Racer Replica.

FLHTCU, actually... the "I" was dropped when fuel injection was installed on all FL models and no longer an optional choice.

Pop quiz... what is an IMZ-8.1037?
