Re: 2011 URAL sT Solo - VOTED: Discussion In Progress
I'm not really gonna help these discussions as there are not many bikes that I really would not find something cool about. That said, the Enfield Bullet would be my choice for the archaic put-put award. Id still give the Ural a go however....

I think if there's any USA market for this kind of bike, Royal Enfield beat them to the punch when they rolled out the G5 and C5 Classics in spring 2009.

Re: 2011 URAL sT Solo - VOTED: Discussion In Progress
Royal Enfield will give them a run for their money, I've never rode either the URAL or Royal Enfield, but I do find the URAL (when checking them out at the shows) are more substantial.
Grey Thumper makes a great point in saying:
"Even though I voted it "cool", I still don't know why anyone would buy this bike. If you've got one (and didn't already have, say, a Patrol), it's almost saying that you wanted an Ural but couldn't cough up enough cash for a hack and suddenly has to compete more in terms of looks and retro coolness to a whole bunch of bikes, like the Enfield, Bonnies, Guzzi Classics, heck, maybe even HD Sportsters. A very tough field to play in."
For the extra I would go for a Bonneville myself, but $7k does place this bike in the realm of a lot of used "better" bikes out there... It will be interesting how a test ride and review would go on one.
I think a lot of people could accept such a bike with a hack because they work as a combination, but alone I think they will be comparing it with everyother two weeled motorcycle.

I can't say this bike is cool because the cool factor for the Ural is in the sidecar!

I hope this bike does sell well, but like others have said to me an Ural needs a sidecar.

Re: 2011 URAL sT Solo - VOTED: Discussion In Progress
I'd have to agree with High_Side's 100% on all counts. If someone gave me a Ural, I would proudly ride it all over the place. But it would by no means get a first choice outta me. Still, a cool bike.High_Side wrote:I'm not really gonna help these discussions as there are not many bikes that I really would not find something cool about.
