2011 Bimota Tesi 3D - COOL WALL VOTE: AWESOME

2011 Bimota Tesi 3D Review
The Tesi 3D is different, far from what we saw on wheels has two so far. Their revolutionary framework offers an unmatched driving experience, and a new sense of control. The traditional front wheel has been replaced here by an exclusive front-tubular swingarm, chrome-moly tubing and a mechanically-operated double-pivot steering/ mechanically controlled ackerman steering replaced exclusively.
The front suspension is via a linkage system and acted on a train on the strut.
The frame consists of two omega-shaped aluminum panels that enclose the DUCATI 1100 cc engine (meets Euro 3). The special engine management system was developed by the technicians BIMOTA Experience, to increase power and torque.
The tubular aluminum rear swingarm has bolted end plates.
TESI 3D - the Unique TESI 3D - the Unique
In a time of highly competitive markets, wholly subject to the pressures of globalization, values like genuine Passion, Talent, Skill, Courage and maniacal Love for perfection often seem to belong to an altogether different world. Exactly these values are what we are all about at Bimota. Our motorcycles capture and represent the essence of a decidedly different approach - the only approach we feel comfortable taking.
The eagerly awaited TESI 3D Concept, first introduced at the 2006 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy, is the standard-bearer for Bimota's cutting-edge technology of emotion. The TESI 3D, like all Bimota motorcycles, embodies all of the character and DNA of a small company that knows how to think big. Bimota is fully committed to the pursuit of excellence and the continuous refinement of our already state-of-the-art technologies.
Concentrating on innovative technical solutions, the TESI 3D has been developed entirely by our in-house staff at the Bimota factory in Rimini. Italy. Dressed in our traditional color-scheme of white, red, and gold, the motorcycle is propelled by a Ducati 1079cc engine. The electrical environment is developed by Bimota.
While featuring the original Hub-Steering developed by Bimota, the Tesi 3D Concept boasts several new developments and refinements: The front and rear swing utilize a trellis structure similar to the rear swing of our DB5 and DB6 series' models. Also the front suspension has been radically redesigned and now uses a pull-rod mechanism with the hydraulic suspension located low beside the engine. Carbon body-parts and cowling, forged alloy wheels, and radial disc brakes are further features of the new TESI 3D. The frame consists of light alloy.
The TESI 3D is now available in two color versions, red and white plus the new Carbon Black version.
The dynamic abilities and unique design of the new generation TESI put it at the top of supersport road bikes, while the trademark Tesi design distinguish Bimota in the world scene of motorcycling.

Re: 2011 Bimota Tesi 3D - COOL WALL VOTE: in Progress
I'll start off by voting awesome, if only for the cool factor that the original Tesi had in the early 90s.

Re: 2011 Bimota Tesi 3D - COOL WALL VOTE: in Progress
An epic fail. Ugly beyond belief. It's sad that a company founded by the great Massimo Tamburini would create such a mfugly bike. The bodywork on the bike looks like a 1990s showbike reject. The suspension looks like the result of a 2011 Monster and a 1994 Yamaha GTS1000 crashing into each other at 150 mph. And to top it off, they drop in an antique relic of a motor. Don't get me wrong, I love the DS1100 motor in my Hyper but it is so wrong for a bike that is supposed to be a technical showpiece. And what a stupid name for a bike.

i gotta say - the red and white was ok, but the black did it in. looks like a combination of one my kid's bionicle sets crossed with a k'nect set. that red and gray frame and cover looks horribly cartoonish and plastic.
but i totally recognize different strokes for different folks

It's great everyone has different opinions or we would all be out there riding the same bike! How boring would that be
I don't like it. Some of my fave bike features look to be missing or were replaced with lego parts.

Re: 2011 Bimota Tesi 3D - COOL WALL VOTE: in Progress
Pros:
- The exposed frame between the tank and side fairings
- Trellis-style rear swingarm
- The fact that the tank is narrower where your legs would be than it is at the top
- Carbon fiber rear tire hugger
- Front turn signals in the mirrors
- The black rims
Cons:
- $40,000 USD price tag, before any import fees that I'm sure would be assessed
- The front swingarm reminds me of the Batcycle, and not in a good way
- The fact that the tank mushrooms out so abruptly at the top, couldn't they smooth that transition out some?
- The grips hang out so far past the rest of the bike they look like great big goofy ears
- The praying-mantis futuristic insectoid alien appearance of the front headlight housing and fairing assembly
- The gold rims--never been a fan of gold rims
- The fact that it looks like the first part of the bike to drag when you're leaning hard is the front brake calipers
- The front fender, it just looks stupid to me
- The entire bike looks like a child's rocking horse toy because of the unconventional front end and the appearance that it'll flip you over the front tire under hard braking
- That seat looks painfully uncomfortable
- The name
- It looks like the tail light is one teeny tiny red dot
- The tail section is apparently just a ridge between the two mufflers
- They managed to make even a double undertail exhaust look like crap
- The bike is hideously ugly. Atrocious.
- Those big aluminum plates caging the engine and transmission. You really put a sexy 90-degree twin in there and you want to block the whole thing from sight? Morons.
There's a lot of other things I think I don't like, but it's hard to tell if it's actually what I think I'm seeing because there's some glaring differences between the two bikes. Are those brake lines steel-braided? Looks like it on the white bike, not on the black. What kind of material is that for the vertical piece between the front axle and that upper stabilizer/steering bar? White bike looks like aluminum, black bike looks like bluish-gray lego. What's with the Darth Vader mouthpiece thing between the frame spars? Is that a radiator of some sort? It doesn't look big enough to really do much of anything. Either hide it and trivialize it's utility or make it big enough to be worth the weight and don't pick some random trapezoid shape so it looks funny. And what's going on with the carbon fiber look on the black bike that just looks plastic on the white? Is it really carbon fiber or does it just look that way to match the black color scheme?
Give that bike some curves, make it sexy, give it a personality. Right now it looks like a damn transformer or one of the evil robot motorcycles from the Terminator: Salvation movie. At least it holds with my previous experience with Italian bikes--I either think they're absolutely beautiful and hit all the right notes or they're absolutely repulsive. This one, if you haven't guessed yet, is repulsive. I'm voting Uncool ONLY because I think they're going in the right direction and exploring new technologies and trying to bring them more into the mainstream. If it wasn't for that small concession I'd vote Fail and then make another dummy account just to vote Fail again.

Re: 2011 Bimota Tesi 3D - COOL WALL VOTE: in Progress
....
The 2011 Bimota Tesi 3D is such a unique execution of design that just works how could I not give it an AWESOME vote?
370lbs and 1100cc engine, plus an insane design?
The whole look of the Bimota Tesi 3D is insane, you couldn't help but get noticed EVERYWHERE you ride and park it. The praying mantis look of it is quite unique as well as it looks like it's going to lunge at whatever is in front of it and looks fast just sitting still. If I had to choose a paint color scheme for it I'd go with the red, white and gold wheel option myself, it just looks great to me on the red frame.
The price is quite high though and I have unfortunately never seen one on the road before, but I guess that would just add to the notice-a-bility of the bike and the rareness of it all. While the price is quite high I can think of many other bikes that cost around the same that would not be as awesome.
The one design element I'm not fond of is the silver-grey centre metal brace... could I get a cover for that or could it be painted black please?
Glad it's on our Cool Wall, hopefully it finishes quite high up in the rankings.
