New models and one-off's highlighted at #Australian Motorcycle, #Jetski and #Scooter Expo

Hundreds of new motorcycles, scooters, ATVs and PWCs from the biggest brands will fill the floor at the Australian Motorcycle Expo Gold Coast, opening this Friday.

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre is again bristling to capacity, with variety and value sure to please riders of all ages.

Triumph has spared no expense in the air-freight of its exciting new Explorer, an exciting update to the expanding adventure category.

A ride-by-wire electronic throttle system sees the inclusion of rider aids such as traction control, cruise control and ABS.

Its shaft drive system makes it a true adventure tourer and means more maintenance-free miles.

The iconic British manufacturer will also feature its new Speed Triple R.

Suzuki will also weigh into the adventure category contention, with its 2012 V-Strom 650 featuring a range of updates over its predecessor.

6kg lighter than the previous model, the V-Strom receives an updated fuel injection system and has had mechanical losses in the engine reduce, resulting in improved fuel economy.

BMW's new S 1000 RR is another highly-anticipated arrival. The 2012 model builds on the success of the original release, with data and feedback from race teams and customers alike.

Changes to suspension, steering head angle and swing arm pivot are present on the new Superbike, which includes Race ABS, Dynamic Traction Control and Quick Shift modes as standard, with no price increase over the original RRP.

Highlights of Yamaha's comprehensive display will be the 2012 updates to its best-selling YZF-R1 and WR450F.

Feedback direct from its factory MotoGP team has allowed Yamaha to develop both the chassis and engine of the R1 to a new level of performance and comfort.

Key to the new model is the advanced Traction Control System, giving the rider complete confidence in any conditions.

Ground-up changes to the WR450F have made it one of the market's most sought-after enduro machines.

A new aluminium bilateral beam frame sharpens steering, while the harsh terrain of trails is tamed by twin-chamber suspension front and rear.

The included hand-held power tuner can be used to adjust the bike's all-new fuel injection system, allowing customisation for the conditions and rider preference.

Victory Motorcycles' new Judge is set to make a huge impact when unveiled this week.

The latest addition to its cruiser lineup features bigger tyres, drag bars, and new bodywork including fuel and oil tanks. Blacked out componentry ensures it makes for a menacing look on the road.

Ducati's Streetfighter made hearts skip a beat when it was awarded 'Most Beautiful Bike' in November 2008 in Milan, and the 2012 model builds on this presence, adding everyday accessibility to the famous naked bike family.

Combining a new 848 Testastretta 11° engine with the enhanced geometry of a chassis that provides confidence-inspiring agility, the Streetfighter 848 has enriched its user-friendliness with a smooth and flexible power delivery, revised ergonomics and Ducati Traction Control.

The new fighter is dressed in red for Ducati traditionalists, while yellow makes a return for mid-range purists and 'dark stealth' provides a matte-black reminder of the Streetfighter's aggressive image.

A full and comprehensive range of personal watercraft (PWC) is sure to delight Gold Coast visitors.

Sea Doo will launch its new RXP-X 260 & GTR 215 models, offering a blend of performance and luxury features across the board.

Yamaha's complete PWC lineup will also be on show, offering further options for visitors at show-special prices.

Making its first appearance in Australia is a motorcycle built for heavy metal band the Motley Crue.

Ridden on stage by Vince Neil, the bike features a leather wrap designed to replicate tattoos on human skin.

A bike created as a tribute to the creator of MMA brand Tapout, the late Charles 'Mask' Lewis, will also capture plenty of attention.

400-man hours were spent fitting the bike with aftermarket and custom fabricated parts before being finished with artwork that must be seen to be believed.

The locally-built Indian – Retro 37 bike will be a talking point for custom enthusiasts, with its design and detail making it a multiple award winner.

A 1901 motor bicycle, the Wearwell Stevens, will turn the clock back. The engine is the first of its kind produced, and, amongst hundreds of new motorcycles, will illustrate how far the industry has come in over a century of change.

A full range of apparel, accessory, safety gear and service providers will be on show at the February 17-19 event.
