2012 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited
Luxury.
When it's time to go all out, it's time for the 2012 Spyder RT Limited. This luxury version of our three-wheeled roadster comes equipped with a Vehicle Stability System, cruiser control and semi-automatic transmission, along with a host of technology upgrades and added convenience features. On this ride, the only thing optional is returning home.
When it’s time to go all out, it’s time for the Spyder RT Limited. This luxury version of our three-wheeled roadster comes equipped with a Vehicle Stability System, cruise control and semi-automatic transmission, along with a host of technology upgrades and added convenience features. There are also two exclusive color options and chrome accents. On this ride, the only thing optional is returning home.
BRP has traditionally and successfully launched luxurious "limited" models in many segments of the powersports market. For 2012, the Spyder RT Limited roadster is even more magnificent with its new exclusive upgrades. The Spyder RT Limited starts with a Spyder RT-S platform and improves upon it with an integrated GPS system, two exclusive colors, four travel bags, travel cover, chrome accents and a specially embroidered seat. However, with its Rotax V-Twin engine, proprietary SST chassis, precision handling and unmatched comfort, the Spyder RT Limited roadster is much more than just an elegant façade.

Re: This Week - 2012 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited: Vote and Disc
I think it is a cool alternative to a convertible car (or a conventional trike), but not as a bike...if I needed to get a trike for some reason, this would be the one...they still turn great like a sports car, but the whole fun of being on a bike is the leaning into the corners which is part of the flying sensation that we all love...it's missing here...so I voted uncool...
Later.
Later.

Complete and utter failure....its not a bike, its not ever a proper trike. It looks like someone has taken the runners and track off a snowmobile and fitted wheels instead. If you want an open top sports car, get one.....oh yeah, these damn things are almost wide enough to be a car.....Failure to the max.
Always ask why.

I won't knock it, as I've never tried one, but for that price it had better be something really special.

Re: This Week - 2012 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited: Vote and Disc
I would love to have one of these in my garage. So what if it's as wide as a car and doesn't lean? It looks like it would be a blast to ride, and for those who can no longer manage two wheels, or just don't want two wheels, this is an awesome riding alternative. And if I still wanted to lean hard, I'd have kept my sports bike.
I have a really bad back and within 5-6 years my bike might be gathering dust...but this would keep me out there, still having fun. And having had a convertible...those are fun and I want another one some day, but it's not the same. The Spyder lies there nicely in that space between bikes and cars, and to have that option....awesome.

BTW - The 2012 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited represents the ultimate in luxury from the Spyder lineup and is also the most expensive, must-have-it-all model.

Hmmm, people seem to be liking these more than the last time a Spyder was posted on the cool wall. I still think it's uncool and pointless, especially since it neither leans nor countersteers, and especially since it costs 30 grand. For that price, might as well get a roadster like a Miata (or even better, a Caterham 7).
Although, isn't Bombardier developing a leaning Spyder? Now that would be a gamechanger.

They filed a patent for the mechanism...whether it ever sees the light of day is the question. I hope it does, just for the fun factor.Grey Thumper wrote: Although, isn't Bombardier developing a leaning Spyder? Now that would be a gamechanger.

Cool for what it is, I suppose. Not my thing, but I may change my mind when I can't ride a real bike anymore.
It looks more stable than a standard trike, which is a plus.
I'm with Grey Thumper on this - for 30 grand, I'd get a tiny roadster. Cooper Mini, I think, with standard transmission and a soft top.

I voted: Uncool
It's just too bulky, heavy (for 900cc engine) and pricy... at $29-32k I'd sooner buy a V8 sports car!
That said, it's top of the line and unique. But still, I am not sure how it would really work in the real world, I'll have to try one one day... Did you know Can-Am promotes the fact that you DO NOT NEED a motorcycle licence to "ride" one?
