I voted: Cool.

The reason is the weight, engine size and the price. $18,350 USD and 564lbs fully fueled isn't the type of bike I would want to ride off-road or leave in many parts of the 3rd world. As storysunfolding suggested above, a V-Strom would be less than 1/2 the price new (1/3 or less newly used!), and I'd take that myself. But on a basis of quality, performance, style and ultimate reliability, the BMW would be an excellent choice, it just depends on what you like. :D

I have always had a hard time with the look of the boxer engine.

Cool but not awesome.

LOL... No worries, that's why they make 31 different flavors at Baskin Robbins. :D I do have to admit that the boxer engine look is unique and the design really works for smoothness. It's also quite easy to adjust the valves on too.

The BMW adventure bikes are the original pioneer for the class and because of this I can give it a cool. Due to it's weight and price there is no way this could be awesome. Just my two cents!

I do like the look of the bike, and I'm sure it would be a great addition to the garage, but when I could have a VStrom & keep my bike for less money...

I voted: Cool...

Best I could do...maybe my taste isn't developed enough to fully appreciate the BMW?

Later.

Uncool due to the weight and price. It's outgrown the adventure touring class, but isn't quite to luxury touring class.

And now for the exciting results!

Your Coolness Factor of the 2013 BMW R1200GS is...

Awesome 25%
Cool 56%
Uncool 9%
Fail 9%

Overall, people seem to like the new BMW R1200GS and the GS series, but has BMW created too many GS' and has so many now offered by other manufacturers watered down the market for them? Especially an expensive one? Time will tell... the question is, what is the next "new" tread going to be with bike design? I'm betting it is the comeback of the mid sized bike. What do you think?
