Re: This week: 2013 Hyosung GT650R: Vote Today
Hyosung does have a model, the GT650, that has upright handlebars and with the adjustable footpegs it will fit most riders.
I voted COOL.
I voted COOL.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Re: This week: 2013 Hyosung GT650R: Vote Today
One of the most unfortunate thing about products from South Korea (or just about most countries from Asia, other than Japan which has a totally different sounding language) is that their names are often mistaken for being Chinese by Westerners. It would be blasphemy to even associate South Korea with China as anything made in South Korea is far superior to any POS made in China. That said, I think the South Korean motorcycle industry is quite a bit behind their automotive or electronics industry. This bike is not that great, and for a price that is not actually what I would consider to be a bargain. The Kawasaki Ninja 300 would in fact spank it beyond belief in just about every respect. I rate it a fail.

You know it just isn't what it looks like, I checked one out and was not impressed BTW you can buy em a bit cheaper than the listed price. It isn't a total fail but it isn't a sport bike if it were a 750 triple or I4 instead of the sv 650 powerplant it might be awesome but I had to vote uncool.

Just to add my 2 cents in it wasn't that long ago the SV650 engine was touted as an amazing V-Twin. (massive success with the SV650S) and that's the engine this bike uses.BRUMBEAR wrote:.. I hear ya but the bike I rode was not an sv it was a hyosung and it was not refined I guesss you could say which made the machine feel heavy and sluggish compared to an sv which btw are nimble and real fun to ride. It's not a bad starter bike imo but like has been added already the 300 ninja and i'll wager the cbr 250 own it.

Even with the good Japanese motor, the rest of the bike is marginal at best and the design is from the 1990s which even then wasn't all that great.totalmotorcycle wrote:

You have to be careful...the Hyosung engine is based on the Suzuki, not the same though...it actually has a higher output than the Suzi engine, but is rougher around the edges...totalmotorcycle wrote:Just to add my 2 cents in it wasn't that long ago the SV650 engine was touted as an amazing V-Twin. This isn't a bike for me, but if you look at it as a beginners alternative to a GSX-R, CBRR or R1...I think it deserves a minimum of a Cool vote since it will give them the riding position and feel of the SS bike without putting them on a rocket to start out on! Squid starter bike?
Seat is too high, weight is heavy and styling isn't to my liking...but for what it is, I vote Cool!
Later.

That is very true and I should have mentioned that. It indeed is based on the Suzuki SV650 engine that Hyosung built for the Suzuki SV650S, it's very close in design but yes, it's still a little different.... more likely due to patents/legal stuff and the desire to R&D over the years.madjak30 wrote:You have to be careful...the Hyosung engine is based on the Suzuki, not the same though...it actually has a higher output than the Suzi engine, but is rougher around the edges...totalmotorcycle wrote:Just to add my 2 cents in it wasn't that long ago the SV650 engine was touted as an amazing V-Twin.
