2013 Kymco Xciting 500Ri ABS

The newly designed Xciting 500 Ri ABS is powered by a 38 hp engine and rich on amenities, including underseat storage large enough for a backpack or helmet and jacket, a lockable glove box, useful 12v accessory outlet, and all of the gauges you would expect from a modern two-wheeler capable of intercontinental travel. As the model name suggests, braking assistance is provided by a new generation Bosch anti-lock braking system (ABS).

Luxurious, refined, and incredibly fast, the Xciting 500Ri is truly a state of the art product design from KYMCO. You'll never have to sacrifice comfort again with a fully automatic transmission, adjustable back rest, 4 position brake levers, and a smooth ride! Be sure to take a closer look for chrome finishing, red accents, texturized black satin side panels, and even a carpet-lined under seat storage compartment.

The Xciting 500 Ri ABS is available in Gray or Gold, both with red performance-accented rear suspension spring and brake calipers.

Y'know, I like scooters, think they're tremendously practical, and I occasionally wave to them, but with the exception of, say, a vintage Vespa or Lambretta, I wouldn't call them cool.

While I may not be ready to start riding one just yet, I have always liked the look of a scooter. If all I did was ride downtown in Toronto, I would already be on one. I do know of a guy that tours on a Burgman 650 for looong distances, so I am thinking I will have to try one sooner than later. That said, I will have to say "cool". It looks like a comfy ride and no one is going to buy one by mistake thinking it is something it is not.

There's a reason most e-bikes copy the scooter form. They are tremendously practical urban machines.

I'll say cool, but I'd be more inclined to go with an "interesting" option over cool. But this is as close as we get. Lol

I vote "Awesome". I've seen (and ridden) one of these where I work and, although I'm not a scooter guy, I am impressed with them. Yeah, I might be biased because I sell and work on these, but on the other side of the coin this gives me much more insight and experience with them. This "little" 500cc machine can out perform a lot of larger, traditional motorcycles (don't ask me how I know) for much less money and arguably a lot more fun. The boss has one with a sidecar attached to it and he can easily keep pace with my Road Glide sidecar combo. In fact, the little bugger can just plain run away from me at a standing start from a stoplight.

The fit and finish is second to none, the ride is comfy and confidence inspiring and the ABS brakes can haul you down from speed in the blink of an eye. To me, this is more motorcycle than scooter and if I ever get to the stage where I can't swing a leg over the Harley or get tired of shifting gears all the time, well, I'll be giving one of these a serious look.

I really want to vote uncool because I always thought if you can ride one of these there is a motorcycle out there you can ride instead. I like the big R1 looking fairing. Near 500lbs for a scooter? I'll give it a cool but really need a vote between cool and uncool. If I had to ride a scooter this might be the one. There are some scooters out there that will outperform a lot of bikes but they cost 10k plus. I think this one has a lot of features and the price is not crazy.

I change my mind, I can not give a scooter a cool, just can't do it. Uncool.
