I gave it a cool just because we still don't have a Meh option. While a great bike, it is pretty much an old story retold. Nothing really new or exciting about it, apart from the price tag....ouch......still a good example of what a basic bike should be.

I have a 2014 DL650A and I agree that it is a rather ugly bike. The only difference between my bike and this offering is the luggage and about $1500 USD.
That said, I rode my DL650A just a tad over 1500 miles this last Saturday visiting all seven Tour of Honor memorial sites in Texas. The base model is prices at $8550 USD, and I think it is a great value for a very capable motorcycle. I think people would be hard pressed to find a better value moto with similar utilitarian capabilities, but it would be hard to make this motorcycle any uglier. I think the extra $1500 for the SE variant is not that great a deal, but it is not outrageously bad either considering both the top box and the two panniers. A similar setup with Givi products would total about $1275 USD with mounting racks, a top box and V35 side cases. My best guess is that the Givi products would also be of better quality.
When I bought my DL650A, I could have bought the adventure variant for that same $1500 USD price differential, but after reviewing the differences between the motorcycles, I decided that I would be better off getting the base model and then after market products at a better quality / performance/ price point to setup the bike for my purposes. I would recommend the same for this SE variant.
I give this bike a cool.

I gave it a COOL...but when they revamped it, they should have given it a bump to 800cc...great bike, but not an exciting bike.

Absolutely cool. The Swiss Army knife of modern motorcycles. The Zuk 650cc L twin is an over-achiever, people shouldn't be judging it by the displacement number. This is a bike that you can give to a noob as their first bike (guy at my job started on one of these year before last) and yet will easily take you across continent.

I owned the dual spark 2007 model and it was a great bike, very practical, very comfortable and got 700 km's to a tank of gas! The only issues I had were it was a little too practical and being tall (and the bike being tall) it was very turbulent with the wind on the highway over the wind screen. But otherwise, the bike that you could go and go and go...
I haven't tried the new model. But I think it should have been a 750cc, just those extra little cc's would have helped. But the 1000cc V-Strom wasn't a very smooth engine bike, wasn't much more powerful than the 650cc and got much less range so engine size is important.
On this new restyled version, is it just me or does the front feel like it's "missing something" or something fell off??
