•Recommended max cruising speed, mph: 70

That is almost usable on Texas roads where speed limits reach 85 mph, but even 70 mph is a great improvement over previous models. Lots of secondary highways in Texas are posted at 70 or 75 mph.

It's still just a color and trim variation, but I find it hard not to vote awesome on a Ural. Just look at the thing. It's such a conversation starter.

Agriculturally Awesome.

Unique. In fact, maybe unique isn't strong enough of a word for the URAL. There isn't anything at all like the URAL (that's new) in today's marketplace. Yes, URAL has fuel-injection and disc brakes now, but they are still assembled by hand and the metal is still (mostly) shaped by hand in Russia. In a world where everything is globally manufacturer and mass produced, this is the complete opposite. Not that that is bad.

Again, it is unique and appeals to any rider looking for something truly unique. Forget about adding chrome to your cruiser or bags to your adventure bike or do-dads to whatnot to stand out, get a URAL.

How do they ride? Agricultural. Yup, that's the word I have for it. I haven't ridden a farm tractor, but I would imagine it wouldn't be much different. Torque so low it will move itself forward on idle (I don't think you can stall it), a suspension so "primitive" (in today's standards) it will have you bobbing around with a smile on your face. And the feeling of "I could ride across that muddy field no problem" or cut across that snowy frozen lake", check.

Have I rode one? Yup. This is me riding a URAL on URAL media day in Texas. What a crazy day. Let me tell you, you haven't lived as a rider till you sat in a hack.

Total votes: 16

= a Coolwall Factor of 83.3%

Total Motorcycle's Take-a-way: The word unique doesn't go after enough to describe how unique the URAL is. Practical and Impractical. Horribly dated but yet so today's retro. BOHO Chique; Je Ne Sais Quoi (Ok, maybe that's going too far). But what the URAL has, it does it in spades.

Go out and test ride one or jump into someone's URAL sidecar and refuse to get out till they take you around the block. What are you waiting for?!

Mike

Get excited as the next TMW Cool Wall bike for 2017 is now up for voting and discussion, have fun!

The mechanic who had to replace it (me) wasn't too happy, either.

Still interested in what else you had to say.
And can't get enough of that dog. Now that is the picture of happiness.
