Honda CM200T Twinstar Oil Screen

#1 Unread post by iav8 »

The Honda CM200T Twinstar owner manual says to "clean the engine oil screen" but does not show where this screen is. Could someone please tell me where it is and how I should clean it?

BTW why didn't they fit an oil filter?

The Oil Screen is usually inside the engine case above the drain plug.

If I'm not mistaken, there should be a little panel above the drain plug on the side of the case to pull it out.

Dunno why they didn't use a filter ... guess they just felt it wasn't needed ... :|

Thanks for the info... I took a quick look but could not see an obvious panel. I'll take a closer look when we bring the bike out of storage. Cheers.

To wrap up this thread: I got an aftermarket service manual and now know exactly where and how to clean the oil screen. In case any other Honda CM200T (or similar model) owners find this thread, here is the short story: it is under the right-hand crancase cover; it is recommended that the oil pump be removed in order to clean the oil screen.
