Red light "tripper"

Hi, not sure if the question belongs in this forum or elsewhere but has anyone used any of the items sold to trip a red traffic light to green? I and a friend are continually caught at one particular intersection where there is occasionally very little traffic so cars do not come up behind to help. I have taken to running the red light after being stuck through a few changes of light only when there is no cross traffic. Sooner or later I'm sure to be spotted by a local or state cop who is totally unsympathetic.
If you have found something that works, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks.

Not a device, but a couple of suggestions. The first would be to contact the DOT or whoever runs the lights in your jurisdiction and see if they'll adjust the triggers for the light to be more sensitive to help out.

You might also check the law in your jurisdiction. Some places you can legally run the light after a cycle or two of not triggering. Can't hurt to look into the legality of it.

Simplest method of all, bike in neutral, put down kickstand, dismount, run to sidewalk and push crosswalk button, run back to bike, remount, up kick stand and you should be good to go. :D

Thanks! checking with the local authorities sounds like a good suggestion. Unfortunately there are no crosswalks at the intersection in question. I actually did try a search but I guess I don't exactly know what to call the thing that changes the light so I got no responses after 3-4 tries. Perhaps you could enlighten me. Thanks.

Some People are less adept at search engines, queries, and possibly most major internet functions as a whole.

I believe most of this is laziness however in this situation I'm inclined to believe "Dunolde" is being sincere in making an attempt to find what he's looking for.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Brackstone; I have indeed been internet active for many years and have no problems with any of this stuff.
The obvious annoyance and negativity of "ofblong" was quite a surprise to me, but, hey, it takes all kinds.

funny ive been on the internet for 19 years and it took me all of 30 seconds to find the first thread. If you been on the internet for so long and dont have problems then why couldnt you find it?

Just saying is all. Either way the answer to your origional ? is more often then not they dont work.
