you mean the seat cover? This is the solo seat:
This bike will be keeping its' passenger pegs, I want at least one that I can give rides on.
Nice bike btw
Yeah that's Carpy, that looks like it might be the one that he just won a firstplace with at the Grand Nationals (it's changed a bit) I think I first spotted his stuff here. He's on Maggies' site too. To me his stuff's a little too busy, but it's definiately mind bending work.
For some more badassedness, check these guys out. I can't for the life of me remember thier site, but if you're not familiar with them look for it, it's worth finding.
My apologies for this post not having any project updates, I have a number of projects in the works... but haven't yet totally completed any of them, so I can't post. But to prove that I have been working:
a while ago, Loudbike on the left, 69 on the right:
yesterday... or the day before, Loudbike on the left, 69 on the right:
I hope to get 69 painted tonight, Loudbike will be borrowing her frame for a bit.

They need to give this guy a show. It would be much more genuine and entertaining than any of these "chopper" shows. I think the American TV public doesn't know what they are missing. _________________ * 2003 Kawasaki ZRX1200R *

NEWTRONICS
This one’s really a bit old, but as you’ll see, it never really gets resolved so I never posted anything.
Electronic ignition sounded like a cool idea, LEDs, flywheels… very fancy:
Pretty good kit, all kinds of instructions and such
I can’t express how much I hate Phillips
The whole thing seemed pretty simple to put together, it’s just that once it’s together…
…it doesn’t fit |

Frame Finessing
This is some work I’d started on Loudbike (I won’t be talking about her much in these next two entries)
Loudbike in the background and 69 in the fore…
…still hanging on to that fat ugly tail
…ahh
now the proper grinding can start:
side stands are for posers:
Actually I’ll be putting one back on, but the stock one was going to interfere with the rear sets… and it’s heavy… so dumpster-bound it is. It’ nice to see that Honda designed some nice pockets into the brackets where water could collect and rust the frame away.
I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what the hell this little (heavy) thing was for, something to do with the steering lock I guess.
evening out the ends
I did this one a lot better than Loudbike… second time’s the charm
It’s all about removing the stuff you don’t need and slimming down the stuff you do:
new in the foreground, old in the back…guess which is lighter… and looks better
I needed to make myself a stand and handle for sandblasting and painting so I machined out a couple disks to match the inside shelves of the races to double as a paint mask:
and ran some all-thread through them
on the other end I jammed some dowels into the ends of the tubes for it to rest on.
Ready for sandblast
welcome to the white sandy beaches of Dallas Texas
obviously it would have been a lot better to do this in a blast cabinet… I don’t have one. If you’re using really fine media… don’t do it around 3 in the morning, the dew settles into the sand and it doesn’t flow worth a damn. BTW, that sucked so damn much and took approximately 4 hours… I wont be trying that again.
Guess how long that all took…those photos span about one day and 4 or 5 very late nights… and a whole lot of energy drinks. |

Adding that subtle touch of BLING!
I’ll probably get some strong opinions on this one, so, if you like it feel free to say so; if you don’t: hold your’ comments till you see the bike all together. Then you can say whatever you want.
My arsenal:
from left to right (first to last… sorta): Metal etch primer (sticks real good to metal, but is real thin), DPS 3055 w/hardener (doesn’t stick as well to metal but fills really good), DBC PPG base coat, translucent pearl top coat w/some big fat HOC flake thrown in for good measure, DCU 2002 clear w/hardener (I don’t know it yet, but that will also be getting a good dousing of that HOC flake)
nice thick (as thick as this stuff gets) etch prime coat:
followed by a seriously thick DPS prime coat
you almost want that one to drip
let it dry, then sand it smooth
and since I broke through down to bare metal smoothing it out, it gets another etch coat:
than we get to the fun stuff, base
pearl topcoat/ lots of flake
detail:
I’m kind of disappointed that the pearl seems to have totally gotten lost in the flake. I’m hoping sunlight will bring it out.
Then the clear… and some more flake
detail:
the booth (because I just think it’s a cool picture)
and then we bake:
Some of the shots are a bit fuzzy I know… it’s getting pretty late and I’m starting to twitch.
Anyway I’m pretty out of it right now, so if I’ve left anything out I’ll throw an edit in later or something… I’m going to bed now, thanks for watching |

mockup
I took some time to slap it together for a bit of a mockup… and like a true enthusiast, I did it all in my living room
like I was saying before, this is 69s' frame with the rest all borrowed from LoudBike
I'm working on blacking out the engine right now. |

Mysta,
Great lookin' bikes! If you wouldn't mind, could I get the specs on the tire/wheel sizes? I really like the looks of that larger rear, and the front looks like it has a bit more sidewall than the stock tires...? I'm working on a CB350F right now... these pages are a lot of help!
Thanks,
-Pat- |
