2013 Triumph Bonneville Review

2013 Triumph Bonneville

The Bonneville. Say no more.

The most famous name in motorcycling. A legend. Over 50 years of engineering excellence. A thoroughly modern interpretation of the authentic ‘proper’ motorcycle. This iconic symbol of rebellion and independence is even more appealing now thanks to its modern specification, low seat, clean fuel-injected 865cc engine and lightweight 17 inch alloys for even sharper handling. Stirs the heart, not the wallet.

The name and look may be traditional, but don’t for one second think that the Bonneville is old-fashioned.

At the heart is a modern 865cc parallel-twin engine that’s fuel-injected for easy starting, sweet running and compliance to even the strictest modern emissions regulations. You’ll have to look twice though, as traditional carburettor bodies are used to disguise the throttle bodies.

Keeping it all in check is a modern chassis that provides sweet handling and stunning agility, thanks in no small part to those 17” alloy wheels, while the low seat height makes the Bonneville manageable and unintimidating for riders of all ages and experience.

A wide range of accessories are also available for the Bonneville, allowing riders to personalise the Bonneville to meet their specific needs.

2013 Triumph Bonneville Features and Benefits

Engine
865cc air-cooled DOHC parallel twin 360 degree firing interval. Bags of character. The air-cooled 865cc power plant is a modern design but styled to look like an authentic parallel-twin of the 1960s, right down to the dummy pushrods and ‘carburettors’ that hide the modern fuel injectors. But beneath the retro looks lies a very current and usable motorcycle that appeals to new and experienced motorcyclists alike. Thumb the electric starter and today’s Bonneville / Bonneville T100 comes to life instantly and with the distinctive tone that only a parallel twin can deliver. A healthy 67bhp and 50 ft.lbs of torque
give the modern day Bonneville peppy performance that is at home both in the city and on the open road.

Handling
Low centre of gravity. Accessible low 29.1 inch seat height. 17 inch alloy wheels all make for great easy handling. Lightweight 17” cast alloy wheels make the Bonneville agile and easy to ride, while the low 740mm seat height makes it accessible to motorcyclists of all ages and experience.

The Bonneville & Bonneville T100’s 41mm front forks and traditional chromed rear shocks provide poised handling and a comfortable ride.

Style
Bonneville. Reinvented. Timeless, classic looks. Short mudguards and stylish chrome megaphone silencers complete the 1970s look for the Bonneville. While the standard Bonneville delivers an authentic roadster experience, the T100 takes things a stage further with real 1960s’ detailing. Peashooter silencers, classic coachlined two-tone paintwork and spoked steel wheels (with a larger 19” front) give the T100 more presence and the sort of kudos only a ‘Brit twin’ can deliver.

Sound
Authentic and stylish megaphone silencers recall an era of gentlemen racers.
