2013 Triumph Street Triple Review

2013 Triumph Street Triple

An all-time best seller since it roared into action in 2007, the Street Triple combines the style with attitude, performance with agility making it the envy of the middleweight sector.

This truly impressive middleweight street motorcycle has been acclaimed by critics around the world. The all-new 2013 model is even punchier, better balanced and more exhilarating.

The new chassis has a more dynamic specification, giving you agility and precision while keeping you planted, and better weight distribution and geometry give you an athletic, responsive ride.

The heart of the Street Triple is the throbbing 675cc triple, delivering 106PS and 68Nm of torque. It’s so good you’ll have trouble believing its only 675cc. The torque and sound of the liquid cooled 12 valve triple, combined with a close ratio six speed gearbox produce an exciting ride, and the under-engine silencer helps lower the centre gravity and improve handling.

It looks even better too, with stylish brushed metal finishes, aggressive headlights and a choice of colored coded styling accessories complementing the dark powder coated engines and frames.

A global hit since its introduction, the Street Triple fuses the style and attitude of the iconic Speed Triple with the performance and agility of the class leading Daytona 675 supersports machine.

The torque and sound of the liquid cooled 12 valve triple, combined with a close ratio six speed gearbox produces an exciting, exhilarating ride that has made the Street Triple a hit with riders around the world and our best selling model since its launch.

Triumph’s Street Triple has been one of the success stories of recent years, collecting numerous accolades along the way and being recognized for delivering class-leading dynamics alongside an unforgettable riding experience. Fusing the style and attitude of the Speed Triple with the agility of the Daytona 675, and delivering it all for a very competitive price, it wowed the industry when it arrived in 2007.

For 2013, the all-new Street Triple has been completely redesigned to offer an even more exhilarating ride. Heralding the change is an all new chassis. A brand new aluminium beam twin-spar frame meets a new two piece high pressure die cast rear subframe. Not only is the chassis robust and hard-edged, it’s also advanced. Engineered to optimise dynamism, agility and rider enjoyment, the design is lighter thanks to fewer pieces and fewer welds in the frame.

A key component in the Street Triple’s improved handling is the all-new low-mount exhaust. Not only does this provide a sharp new look but it offers a significant contribution to redistributing the center of gravity and the weight of the exhaust. Its clever design and optimized mass centralization has also afforded Triumph’s engineers the opportunity to tweak the geometry, reducing the rake to 24.1º and increasing the trail by 0.5mm to 99.6m. As a package, it adds up to razor sharp dynamic handling in a confidence-inspiring package weighing just 403 lbs., fully fuelled and ready to ride. This represents a substantial 13 lb. weight reduction over the outgoing model.

The fantastic handling of the Street Triple is complimented by KYB suspension via 41mm upside down forks. Stopping power is provided by a dual 310mm floating disc front brake set up, with Nissin two-piston sliding calipers. Further braking security is provided by the standard ABS, which itself is fully switchable to offer riders the absolute best setup for their riding requirements.
The heart of the Street Triple remains the liquid-cooled, 12-valve, 675cc three-cylinder engine. Combined with the close ratio six-speed gearbox, the unit delivers 105bhp and 50ft.lbs. of torque, providing all the drive you need. The power plant has been tuned for incredibly strong low-to-mid-range performance and delivers an exhilarating ride that can be enjoyed by riders of all ages and experience.

Despite its entry-level positioning in the Triumph roadster range, the new Street Triple comes with a high level of equipment as standard. Included is an engine immobilizer while further security can be added via an accessory Triumph D lock which can be stored under the seat. Comprehensive LCD digital instrumentation includes a built-in lap timer, programmable gear change lights, fuel gauge, clock and gear indicator, as well as a large tachometer and digital speedo. The unit is also able to display front and rear tire pressures when the optional Triumph Tire Pressure Monitoring System is fitted.

Three metallic color options are available for the new Street Triple in 2013: Phantom Black, Crystal White and striking Caribbean Blue.

2013 Triumph Street Triple Features and Benefits

675 Triple Engine
The throbbing heart of the Triumph Street Triple and Street Triple R is the 675cc liquid-cooled triple with engine immobiliser as standard for added security. Revving to 12,650rpm, the engine delivers excellent performance and the unmistakable unique sound of a Triumph triple. Combining the benefits of low down torque and high rev performance, the triple engine truly defines its athletic spirit.

Dynamic Chassis
Defining the new Street Triple and Street Triple R’s new look is the all-new frame. Incorporating a high-pressure, die-cast rear subframe for increased rigidity. Not only is the chassis robust and hard-edged, it’s also advanced. Designed to optimise dynamism, agility and rider enjoyment, the lightweight design and lower centre of gravity gives you the stability and confidence for an incredible riding experience. And with the addition of adjustable front forks, an RSU with both pre-load and damping adjustment and Nissin radial 4-piston brakes, the Street Triple R has even more of an edge.

Low Mounted Exhaust
Street Triple and Street Triple R feature a low-mounted, stainless steel 3 into 1 exhaust system with a low, single-sided silencer. This new design reduces the centre of gravity for an exceptionally agile and exhilarating riding experience.

Switc hable ABS
Brake with confidence and you can cope with the unexpected. Standard on the Street Triple and Street Triple R are state-of-the-art Anti-Lock Brakes that can cope with even the hardest braking. And because the ABS system is switchable, it can be easily deactivated whenever necessary via the instrument panel – it will then automatically re-activate when the bike is re-started.

Styling
With hard-edged street looks, exposed engine, unmistakable twin headlamps and low-mounted silencer this is a pure riders bike. A striking new wheel design reduces un-sprung mass which improves dynamics and agility. And for an even sportier edge, the Street Triple R comes with a red rear sub frame, red side radiator cowls, and red pinstripe detailed wheels.
