Live in the moment…

Nothing quite compares to the feeling of taking a sports bike out on a twisty road at the weekend. But why can’t that feeling of ‘being in the moment’ live on right through the week, as you take on the city streets? With the all-new CBR650F it can.

Street Sport

Sporty performance and handling, comfort and practicality – the new CBR650F delivers it all. Compact and refined to the last detail, the CBR650F’s DOHC torquey liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine produces responsive acceleration that instantly gets the blood pumping from low revs right up to the 11,000rpm red line. PGM-FI fuel injection delivers reactive throttle feel and good fuel economy.

UNMISTAKABLY CBR

The CBR650F’s fairing purposely reveals the engine, giving it that street sport edge. But it also provides wind protection for longer journeys and of course, shares the distinctive CBR family style. And there’s more than a hint of Honda racing DNA about the minimal tail unit and short exhaust muffler.

LED front position lights and tail-light provide clear visibility. Large twin digital screens including fuel gauge, clock and trip computer lit by a white backlight make an attractive, clear and functional display.

NO COMPROMISE

The CBR650F ‘s completely new inline four-cylinder engine is developed to deliver plenty of low to mid-range torque, 64kW peak power and good fuel economy.

Twin lightweight steel elliptical spars with tuned rigidity balance give the frame its strength and rider feedback. The 41mm telescopic forks deliver accurate front end control and feel, while the preload adjustable rear monoshock works through a sculpted aluminium swingarm.

Twin 320mm wavy front discs are gripped by powerful dual-piston calipers and Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) as standard.

Sometimes, if you want the best solution, you have to think outside the box. In fact, sometimes it’s best if you throw the whole concept of a box away. That’s what our engineers did with the CBR650F ABS. Traditional displacement classes went 600-750-1000. But who says you had to stick to that? An extra 50cc is going to make the CBR650F ABS a lot more fun for a lot more riders. It lets us fatten up the powerband, but still keep the bike light and nimble.

A fun? ride at a great price, the CBR650F ABS’s inline-four engine is specifically tuned for low-to-midrange torque, delivering a powerband that’s suited for a wide range of riding styles. Weekday commuter, weekend sport riding, long trips, short hauls, solo or with a passenger—the CBR650F ABS does it all.

So who cares for labels and pigeonholes anyway? Not the CBR650F ABS. A great bike knows no limits. Especially not an extra 50cc.

•649cc Liquid-Cooled Inline Four-Cylinder
•Digital instrumentation, clip-on handlebars, sportbike styling
•Adds: ABS

The lightweight Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) fitted as standard manages the front and rear brake calipers, helping prevent wheel lock to provide controlled braking performance on wet or slippery surfaces.

Careful shaping of the seat profile, with the CBR650F’s slim middle section and 810mm seat height, make ground reach easy and low-speed manoeuvring effortless.

The LED front position lights burn brighter and whiter, increasing visibility. The LED tail-lights provide a unique light signature and last longer than standard bulbs.

The preload adjustable rear monoshock works through a sculpted aluminium swingarm that arcs over the muffler.

2016 Honda CBR650F ABS www.Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

Engine & Drivetrain

Strong torque

The DOHC 16-valve cylinder head employs direct cam actuation and cam timing that delivers strong torque and drivability below 4,000 rpm.

Runs smoothly at any RPM

Peak power arrives at 11,000 rpm with peak torque at 8,000 rpm for a broad usable powerband. The engine is smooth at all rpm, with distinct inline four-cylinder character and resonance.

Good fuel economy

To ensure good fuel economy at constant throttle short valve overlap timing works in harmony with a specific ignition map. Range can exceed 350 km per tank.

Liquid-cooled engine

The liquid-cooled engine uses compact internal architecture, with a stacked six-speed gearbox and starter/clutch layout. The four cylinders are canted forward 30 degree to lower centre of gravity.

Improved manageability for rider

A down-flow airbox and narrow 30 mm high-velocity funnels, route intake airflow in as straight a line as possible. The PGM-FI fuel injection system operates with information from four separate throttle body sensors on 32 mm throttle bores for crisp and accurate throttle response. Careful siting and angling of the throttle bodies allows a narrow frame width, improving manageability for the rider.

Reduced oil consumption

Optimization of con-rod length has decreased the side-force on each piston and ‘breathing’ holes in the crankcase walls between journals reduce pumping losses as rpm rises. The pistons feature asymmetric skirts minimizing bore contact to reduce friction further and ferrous spines on the outer surface of the cylinder sleeves reduce oil consumption and improve heat transfer.

Reduced drag

The water pump – designed with CAE study of water flow – is compact and efficient, reducing drag.

Elegant and functional style

Internal water channeling from cylinder head to cylinders reduces the number of external hoses allowing the motor to show off its minimal, elegant beauty and functional style.

Enhanced agility

Right side-sweeping 4-2-1 exhaust employs optimized downpipe length and diameter, plus patented internal plates regulating airflow to improve torque. The ‘wafer’ design stubby under-slung muffler – with 400-cell catalyzer – contributes to mass centralization.

Chassis & Suspension

Excellent handling

Steel, diamond frame uses twin 64 mm x 30 mm elliptical spars. Its rigidity balance has been specifically tuned – it’s much stiffer around the headstock and more ‘flexible’ in the spar sections – to deliver desirable handling characteristics and a high level of rider feedback.

Single-tube monoshock

The swingarm pivot plate is forged then welded together, while the gravity die-cast aluminum swingarm arcs up over the muffler on the right. The single-tube monoshock offers 7-stage spring preload adjustment and operates directly on the swingarm.

Neutral control in all conditions

The shock and 41 mm telescopic fork have been developed to work directly with the CBR650F frame’s performance parameters to provide supple, neutral control in all conditions. Firmer spring rates (with damping to suit) match the bike’s more sports-oriented focus.

Split six-spoke wheels

Cast aluminum five-spoke wheels wear 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 front and rear radial tires.

Consistent stopping in most conditions

Wavy brake discs use the same manufacturing technique as the twin-cylinder NC750 series; the 240 mm rear is formed within a 320 mm front, saving material (and ultimately cost) to the customer. The two-piston front and single-piston rear calipers are managed by standard 2-channel ABS, ensuring safe and consistent stopping in most conditions.

Additional Features

Sleek & aggressive appearance

Mass Forward’ styling gives the CBR650F its sleek and aggressive appearance. The dynamically curved fuel tank and chiseled fairing add a strong identity, as does the stubby, shrink-wrapped tail unit. Hinged at the back the tank allows easy access to the cylinder head for maintenance. Both taillight and front position light are LED.

Comfort & security

The riding position is on the relaxed side of sporty and passengers get an ample seat and a grab strap for security.

Information at a glance

The dash includes twin large digital screens. On the left are the rev-counter and speedometer; on the right are a fuel gauge, clock, odometer and warning lights. Both sides are lit by a white back light.

Improved security

A compact ‘wave’ design ignition key offers improved security and reduced chance of breakage.
