– 2000 Kawasaki ZX-6R

After taking the lead with the introduction of an all-new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R sportbike in 1998 and remaining strong among competitors in 1999, the new 2000 ZX-6R is poised to have the competition chasing it far into the new millennium.

With its aggressive new looks, thoroughly updated engine, and chassis tweaks, the new ZX-6R is ready to eat the competition on the street or track. One of three new Ninja motorcycles being introduced for 2000, the ZX-6R enhances Kawasaki’s dominating sportbike series. All new all-aluminum cylinder block with electroplated bores, higher compression goes from 11.8:1 to 12.8:1 with semi-hemispherical combustion chamber, shorter intake manifold for increased top-end power and 16-bit microprocessor for more accurate timing. New stick-type ignition coils, twin ram air intake system, magnesium cylinder head cover, oil sump pan and clutch cover. Lighter crankshaft, new generator that puts out more power for the new twin headlights, hexagonal extruded aluminum swingarm with strength-added internal ribbing, front fork offset changed from 30mm to 28mm, and new UNI-TRAK linkage ratio. New damping settings for the adjustable 46mm cartridge fork, multi-dimensional six-piston brake calipers with revised pads, lighter rear brake caliper holder, aerodynamic fairing with lightweight, bright multi-reflector headlights and thinner, lighter electronic speedometer with water temperature gauge, odometer, trip meter and clock.
