2001 SUZUKI CRUISERS: A WIDE RANGE OF MODELS

Suzuki's commitment to all kinds of motorcyclists is nowhere more obvious than in its lineup of cruisers. Suzuki builds a wide selection of models that appeal to people of all ages and experience levels. Classically-styled motorcycles with upright handlebars, plush seats and comfortable riding positions. But don't let the familiar lines fool you. Each one of these bikes comes standard with up-to-date technology, as seen on the all-new Intruder Volusia 800. With seven bikes ranging from 250cc all the way to 1500cc, there's plenty to choose from.

NEW MODEL: INTRUDER VOLUSIA 800

The new Intruder Volusia 800 goes way beyond styling and looks. This is a full-size motorcycle delivering traditional style with modern engineering excellence, all at a tremendous value. It has the right look and the right features. A wide, low fuel tank carrying 4.2 gallons of fuel, and a tank mounted speedometer with a LCD fuel gauge. A low seat and comfortable ride position. A downtube cradle frame combining progressive single-shock rear suspension with traditional rigid-tail looks. All on a ride-enhancing 64.7 inch wheelbase, the longest in its class.

The Volusia is powered by the same reliable 805cc, 45o liquid-cooled V-twin engine used in the VS800 Intruder, but tuned for more torque and low rpm power. The Intruder Volusia develops a broad, flat powerband, with peak torque at just 2500 rpm, by using a single 34mm carburetor, short duration cam timing and a carefully sized intake tract. The staggered dual exhaust system appeals to both the eyes and ears, but has also been designed to enhance low rpm power. Power is transferred through a reliable 5-speed, shaft-drive transmission with a tall fifth gear for relaxed highway cruising.

A wide, low seat adds to rider comfort and confidence at low speeds and stoplights. The combination of low seat height, handlebar shape and forward-mounted foot controls makes the Intruder Volusia more comfortable both around town and on long cruises. The preload-adjustable, single-shock rear suspension combines rigid-tail cruiser lines with a comfortable ride. Long-travel front forks with a 33.3¼ rake angle add to the comfort level. The entire package rolls on a 16-inch front tire and 15-inch rear tire mounted on polished spoked wheels with a single 300mm front disc brake and a 180mm rear drum brake.

The Volusia's show-quality paint and chrome highlight the machine's shape and style. Painted parts include the fenders, frame sidecovers, frame and fuel tank, while generous amounts of chrome can be found from headlight to taillight. All part of the Volusia's uncommon attention to detail, quality and fit/finish.

Intruder Volusia 800 - inspired by two-wheeled passion.
