they are comfy, look like regular jeans ... have abbrassion protection in the seat and knees plus CE rated armour in the knees.

for a jacket ... get a leather jacket with armor in the elbow, sholders and back ...

Personally, I'm a fan of cycleports Kevlar gear. I did a bunch of research before deciding what gear to get and figured that their air mesh kevlar is the most protective and versatile gear available. I'm really happy with my purchase.

The only downside is that its expensive.

highside happens when the rear wheel starts to slide then suddenly regains grip again. The result is the bike whips over sending the rider in the air over the "highside" of the bike ... a good way to break collar bones.

A low side is having the bike slide out from under you.

on a bike in good mechanical conditions (including tires), the bike will have far more lean in it than a new rider will have nerves. Trust the tires and lean mamma!

The weakest point on the 250 is it's suspension. Nose diving under heavy braking is something you either live with or pay big money to fix. Cheapest solution is to take the springs out of an ex500 and put them in the 250, better, but the 500 is not really that good either.

I know it's a little late ... but when you are ready to upgrade, consider getting a fully perforated leather jacket with a zip out liner.

I live in Houston and have ridden with a Vanson perforated jacket and man ... it seriously felt like I was wearing a tee shirt at speed ... when stopped however ...
