Well, I have bled my brakes three times and the lever still feels mushy and seems to travel a long way before engaging the brakes. When it does engage, the brakes work great, stop the bike no problem. The lever doesn't feel right, but the brakes work fine. Maybe this is normal for this bike??? I hav...

Well, here is what I did, let me know where/if I went wrong: Removed master cyl. cover. Attached clear hose to left caliper bleed valve and put other end in container with enough brake fluid in it to cover end of tube. Pumped brake lever a few times, held it and opened the bleed valve. Continued to ...
Get ALL the bubbles out ideally. Every little bit of air that's in there will need to be squished before you start to actually brake. So the more you get out the better your brakes will be.
Thanks Sev. Any idea how long it should take to get all the bubbles out? Seemed...

Brake bleeding bubbles

I bled my brakes and noticed at first bubbles about 1/8" in diameter coming out the tube then some about the size of a pin head (very, very small). Do I need to keep pumping until these very small bubbles are gone or do I just need to get the bigger ones out?

Thank you.

So when I am riding and want to shift I release the throttle, engage the clutch, wait (coast) with the clutch in for the engine speed to slow down so I can shift smoothly, than shift and roll on the throttle???

That doesn't seem right to me. My dirt bike doesn't act like that.

'85 650 Nighthawk throttle problems

With the engine running and in neutral, if I rev the throttle and then release it, the throttle grip and carb linkage all snaps back but the engine speed takes a few seconds to decrease back down to idle. Likewise when I am riding and decrease the throttle to shift the engine speed takes a few secon...

Thanks BuzZz

Is the smoke the kiss of death when it somes to resale? Is it worth cleaning the carb's, new tires and various small repairs or is the fact it burns oil going to turn anyone away when it comes time to sell?

Blue smoke

Got a used '85 nighthawk and finally got it running.....enough to see some blue smoke from the exhaust. Bike needs usual maintenance items but how much do I want to put into the bike considering the smoking problem? The engine sounds good while running (still could use a little carb cleaning) but th...

Cleaning carb's on a '85 650 Nighthawk

Have anyone ever cleaned carb’s themselves on this bike (or similar)before? Some people say it’s not too hard and some say to let a mechanic do it. I’ve cleaned carb’s on snow blowers, mowers, tractors and dirt bikes before so I think I should be able to do it. Just looking for opinions.

thanks.
