Re: new (to me) bike

Hey gratz on the bike!

To add to Dr. Bar's advice on correcting the low speed steering wobble also check the steering nut, sometimes it gets loose on those big bikes, don't over tighten though or the bike will want to wander at higher speeds.

Input on a New (old) Bike Kawasaki Voyager XII

I picked up a 1997 Kawasaki Voyager XII primarily to put an end to my wife pointing at every tourer she sees and saying "am I ever going to be that comfortable on a bike?" So I figured this is the bike we'll use for two up riding. I'll post up some pics when I get it, but it looks like thi...

Re: Ever leave your bike in a lot while you took a trip?

I had to leave my bike for three months a few years ago, I rented storage space at a public storage. That worked out well.

Re: B.C. outlaws motorcycle 'skid lids' (about bloody time)

I'm confused... it doesn't sound like they're banning the "beanie" helmets or other open face helmets, they're only introducing the requirement that it must be DOT certified? Because this is pretty common everywhere else that has mandatory helmet laws.

I guess it true what they say; it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow.

Re: Yet another "new biker - what to buy thread" ..

The S40, albeit a 650 (single cylinder) is a physically very small motorcycle. I don't think it is suitable as a two up machine, unless you and the passenger are pretty tiny in stature.

Re: Question about my first service

Sounds like it's just an oil change based on the FAQ at http://www.motomia.com/MotomiaFAQ.htm Pay particular attention to this answer from the FAQ cited above (the emphasis on the last sentence is mine): When should I have the first service done? After travelling 300km. The first service is the most...

Re: Loudest HD model?

I'm a soon to be new rider *hopefully*. I agree with you that it will change with experience. I just have this image of H-D rider I saw a while back, his bike was loud, like it was ripping the road. Do you recommend any books to get started while I sit all of winter deciding which bike to purchase?...

Re: Loudest HD model?

Actually stock HD's roll out of the showroom as fairly quiet machines. It's aftermarket exhaust systems that create the LOUD you are probably thinking about. I can't really suggest any other bike, the criteria you've listed in your post isn't really related to what you will likely want in a motorcyc...
