I know in my yamaha seca 650 I have that same problem. It either needs a 6th gear or a better 2 3 4 5. I cruises along just fine at higher RPMs but like tortus I preffer to not have my bike wound out to much.

So what does everybody think about using their horns. When I'm driving around in my car I don't really use it. It pisses me off when people honk at me so I don't honk at people easy. But when I'm on my bike I'm always worried that no one sees me so I tend to be more liberal with the use of my horn ...

The fuses are all good along with the bulb. I checked the continutity through both filaments. The volatage of the battery goes down after I start the bike and rev it up. It never goes above maybe 12.2 and drops as low as 11.9. I'm pretty sure it an alternator thing.
