I bought a bike exactly like mt bike to take the engine out of, but it turned out i could fix my original bike without having to steal the engine out of bike b. that does make sense, and i assume it would prevent the gaskets from drying and cracking.

i guess i assumed if you thought that the bike wouldn't be going for a while you would drain all fluids but I have always lived in SoCal and have never had to store a bike at all.

the oil has been drained out of the engine, just not the gas in the tank. I don't know why the guy would have thought ahead enough to drain the oil and not the gas...

same thing, i guess some people call it bump some call it push. Everytime I have done it I either get it going by running along side it and jumping on or by rolling down a hill or have someone push. Put it into second and pop the clutch, the engine should grab, it'll sputter, and you'll get going....

Thank you all for your help. The battery has been kept on and off a trickle starter for the past year so the battery should be fine. I will definitely clean out the carbs and check the lines in addition to the changing of the gas. I looked through some past posts and everyone loves the seafoam stuff...

if your electric starter gives out you can always bump start your bike.
