The Ninja 250 is basically a standard. The pegs and bars are just a tad more aggressive than a true standard. I think it's about as ideal a learning road bike as one can expect to find.

They should have mandatory defensive driving courses for all licensees. Then the motorcycle test could be the motorcycle test, and not cover basic traffic ground. Not to mention also that the hordes of drivers who presently are not competent on modern busy roads would have their skills increased for...

You've drawn different conclusions from the same data as he. He looks at the good shape of his friend's helmet, and the bad shape of his friend's head, and concludes that somehow the helmet failed to protect the head. I don't think he's arguing that the modular doesn't afford better chin protection ...

You're welcome, but that's not what this guy was saying. He said because of the relative lack of insulationbetween skull and helmet exterior, due to the hinge pin, the 3/4 helmet is actually better than the modular under crash conditions where the impact is in the temple area. Here's the write up on...

Yes, earplugs are really worth it, and not too much trouble. Wish I used them during my construction years. About the modular helmets, I came across an opinion on the Web somewhere where the guy's friend had an accident that barely messed up his helmet but which almost totaled his skull at one of th...

when you talk to him ask him the last time the brake fluid was changed, and if the coolant is ready for Winter. Make sure you have a copy of the owner's manual, which has the maintenance schedule in it. The service manual is a good idea too; available on eBay.

Good luck,

A plank is a good thing to have. A piece of 2x10 ought to do it (though I made a wide one out of plywood). You can buy aluminum ends for it so it levels out flush to the truck bed. Personally, I wouldn't chance the highway straight out of the MSF course.

Good luck,

I have a modular helmet, Mossi; very nice for the price, but there is a fair amount of wind noise. I'd be interested in the name of a quiet helmet. (I really like modular but I understand the hinge bolt makes them quite unsafe)

Thanks,

Wind noise, yes. Also, they filter out the low tones of the engine, leaving only the whirring of the gears. Sounds like a smooth lear jet. Very cool sound. I love wearing the plugs.

TS, that dab of water trick works really well. Going to become SOP around here. Thanks.
