Paying for a bike with cash, and title

I've bought a bike from a private owner and paid in cash, and I was wondering what people usually do at the DMV. Do most people come clean with what they paid or do they shed the amount by any? I know when my dad signed over a car to me, he just put "GIFT" and the DMV didn't really say any...

Sounds like a vacuum leak to mees. Er, do you think it still might be a vacuum leak after the carb/jet have been cleaned and it seems like it is fixed? I mean, you really seem to know what you're talking about from reading the forum (do you work in a shop in Canada?), so I appreciate any info you c...

Actually, I just bought it from someone last month. Here is his initial email to me answering some questions: My wife had gotten her license last year and thought she would enjoy riding. That is not the case. She would rather be a passenger. This bike has NEVER been dropped or crashed. It is in show...

If anyone still cares . . . I took it in and they went through the 600mi checkup (does anyone know exactly what they do for the 650 v-star, so I can put in my manual exactly what was done, or does it vary from shop to shop?), which included balancing the carbs and adjusting the valves, which I think...

Nice pictures. I live in Minneapolis, but am from New Philadelphia, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the pictures of the Dover Dam.

Random problems: stalling, not starting, odd high revving

'06 Yamaha 650 V-Star Custom, 520 miles. My problems started with it dying while stopped (stop lights, etc.). I adjusted the idle and that problem was fixed. I believe it ran pretty well after that. Now, when I shift gears, it seems like it revs really high when I bring the clutch in, like if I was ...

Do I need to adjust the valve clearance and sync the carburetor before I adjust the idle? (It says to do that in a manual I have.) Or, will it be fine to just adjust the idle for now and tell the mechanics about it at my 600mi checkup? Also, do I need to use a tachometer, or is it fine to do it by e...

Bumping this thread because I also have an idling problem. I am a beginner and don't know very much (if any) about motorcycle maintenance. For all I know, it could be me and not the bike, so any information would help. I just bought the 2006 Yamaha V-Star 650 Custom on Saturday. It's used and it onl...
