The VLX 600 I just bought for my Wife does the same thing. When I hit 50 mph the bike starts whistling.

I just bought the same bike today for my Wife. On the way home I heard the same whistling sound. I have no idea what it was either. Also, the front breaks when applied sound like a Cicada. It's a very fast ticking sound.

Like they say in MSF class. Slow, look, press, and roll. In that order.

Keep in mind the class is set up to assume you know "nothing" about motorcycles and riding. So, if this is you, go buy a bike, take it to the DMV, and try to pass the driving test. Then, humbly call and sign up for the MSF class. I rode dirt and street bikes for over 15 years 25 years ago,...

Why are you comparing a 1200 to a 750? Wouldn't a Honda 1100 or 1300 be a better comparison? I'm not saying you should go with one or the other, however.
