Ninja, How I envy you your neighourhood! I have a Saab turbo and a Kwaki but here in my part of the UK there's no place to enjoy them outside a track day. Last week I picked up a speeding fine and three points for doing 40mph in a 30mph on a country road. Just didn't spot the sign. The Kwaki doesn't...

If the rider is the only one, or one of a group of riders for miles on the road, it should be a simple fine. x0, Given a long straight country road, with no side turns and no one around and good visibility, even the most responsible riders among us will be tempted to tweek the throttle. Tell me I'm...

One thing; here in the West country (on the coast) we are getting high winds each winter and the cross winds can be very strong on exposed motorway stretches. I've noticed that a lot ...

The valve seats get pounded down, allowing the valve to move closer to the camshaft - this reduces the clearance between the cam lobes and the valve shims. Gadjet, Yes, I get it. As the valve seats wear the valve seats deeper and at the other end gets closer to the camshaft. So, when it gets so clo...

Re: Buckets and shims?
Folks, I am getting mixed messages from local dealers on the servicing of my 1990 Kawasaki gpz550. The bike has done 28,000 miles with a valve clearance service at 10,000. One dealer says get the shims checked every 8000 miles. Another dealer says, don't worry, if they are not rattling then there's...

Anyone still winter riding?
Folks, We have had a cold snap here and my new (to me) Kwaki isn't getting enough use. I go out on it every four days or so, but I'm chilled to the bone for a whole day afterwards! I guess this is because I'm an old guy, maybe. Any of you folks in the cold zones still taking bikes out? I'm spending ...
