Re: Obligatory Pic thread (for bikes)

Jock, I have only ridden it twice and now I'm on a brief vacation. I'm having a host of difficulties getting used to it. That shifter. Oh, I hate that shifter. If I don't bring my leg up high enough I hit the shifter and put it into neutral. Only happened twice. So, I'm getting used to swinging my l...

Re: Obligatory Pic thread (for bikes)

Hi Everyone. I just took the FZ6 out for a 3200 mile journey down to Florida from NJ and back - and all over the place in Florida. It is a tough bike to ride long distances in the mixed winds and cooler weather of a couple weeks ago. So, I have replaced that bike, which I owned for 6 years, with a 2...

Thanks Jock! I've only had one other person recognize the author and series that my son's names came from.

JohnJ: Been doing ok. Need to do more fun stuff with my life.
Grey Thumper: Definitely not riding as much as I want. But I have a plan and maybe it will involve motorcycle riding.

Not exactly new

Hey everyone.

It has been long time since I've been on the forums.

Glad to be back. I'm still riding the old Yamaha FZ6 I bought a couple years ago.

Having fun with the 4 kids and stuff like that.

I hope you are all well. :)

Re: Man Buys Motorcycle, Dies After 3 Mile Ride

Yeah, I know. I've become very pessimistic lately. I haven't been in any accidents in my motorcycle riding and a one not even fender bender in cars. Literally, stop and go traffic on the exit to 280 off the GSP and this guy bumps me. Bleh. Not even worth reporting to the police. I am definitely in t...

Re: This week: 2014 Ducati Superbike 899 Panigale: Vote Toda

Same old grind here. Work, work and more work. Still riding the Buell or the Connie. I bought a second house last year as a garage, it's right across the street, and cheaper then building one. I started going to a gym 3 times a week, turning the fat into muscle. My commute has gotten worse. I'm doi...

Re: Man Buys Motorcycle, Dies After 3 Mile Ride

I read about this and told my wife. She gave me "poo poo" about it. I suppose if the saying is every biker has either been in an accident or will be - statistically speaking if he got the driver's education or not his number might have been 3. Which goes to something a friend of mine said about my s...

Dude you're back. How's life treating you? Yeah welcome back RY! :motorcycle: Hey guys, good to be back. Life is treating me - Eh, not so bad. Mentally dying a bit every day since I have ridden my bike in probably over a year. A little bit due to gaining more than a little bit of weight and not wan...

Re: This week: 2014 Ducati Superbike 899 Panigale: Vote Toda

It looks cool. Not sure if I would want to do a SS1000 on it, though. But if someone gave it to me and said "Ride it on weekends whenever you feel like it." I'd say yes.

Then I'd remember I have 4 kids and no time on weekends to ride it anyway.

Re: Has anyone every rented a motorcycle?

I rented a motorbike when I visited Las Vegas. It was a ST1300 - rented for 3 days put 850 miles on it. It was very enjoyable, but very expensive. $300+ a day. They check for M endorsement (Eagle Rider). They go over the bike with you beforehand. They did not check how long I had been riding. They d...

Re: W.T.F. Were They Thinking? (Motorcycle Designers/Enginee

With one hand you held the bike up while getting your head down enough to see the sight glass. Too easy to tilt the bike too far and drop it on ones head. Exact same issue with a Triumph Trophy. It's a two-person job, one to steady the bike and one to look at the sight glass. By B-King was like tha...

Re: W.T.F. Were They Thinking? (Motorcycle Designers/Enginee

I hate that I have to remove the tank to get access to my battery. On the newest version of my bike, the battery's just under the seat. Although on that bike, the oil filler cap is on the right side of the bike, while the window to check the oil level is on the left. This has got to be the worst de...

I like retro-reflective skulls. I had a couple on my first helmet - but none on my current one.

Re: The "Some say" thread

Some say that the TMW dream shared by tens of millions of riders usually involves chasing after weathermen that predict thunderstorms and then nothing happens.

Re: Where is your favorite place to ride?

My favorite place to ride right now was out by the Grand Canyon. It was freezing cold, but it didn't really matter. You take route 64 south to route 180 to Flagstaff. It was in the middle of the night, dark, and I completely didn't know any of the turns on an unfamiliar bike (ST1300). Although by th...
