Re: My Take on the First Bike question...

Its actually interesting for me to read over this thread. I remember what I felt when I wrote those words, all those years ago. For that reason I can empathize with newer riders fueled by the idea that they can easily outgrow horsepower.

I liken it to working out (which i do). Ask someone to do 100 ...

Re: My Take on the First Bike question...

Its been another few years -lol. Back to tell you all that... all is well. Lost a few riding acquiantances along the way, unfortunately. I just wanted to let you new[newer] guys know that you have your whole life to ride. Take its slow. Appreciate it, respect it, and most of all, get the ...

here's the funny thing about the ole ninja 250. My first bike was/is a Ducati 748 Bip. Great bike..not a beginner bike. Plenty of power. I've been riding for 2 years come february. I have a friend who crashed his Ducati 1098 and had to bring out his ninja 250 (2009) so he could join us on our runs ...

Had a friend go down yesterday while we were riding together through some turns up in the mountains. He was fine, and the bike was ridable afterwords. He went down because he failed to link turns while dealing with elevation changes. Link to video of these same turns done successfully..

Just my 2 cents, but I would not use brake parts cleaner to clean a chain. If you clean a chain regularly, it should not need "brake parts cleaner strength" to remove gunk. I use a little wd40 but I dont spray it directly on the chain. I'm pretty sure the brake parts cleaner (and wd40 for that ...

Forgetting to cancel your turn signal IMO is a big deal. Most riders I encounter dont use turn signals much and as a cager, when I see a rider with a signal on, it says to me that he is INTENT on turning. You'll find that you have significantly increased the chances of someone pulling out in front ...

Been reading back over this thread that started almost a year ago. Havent been back to this sight since but I thought I'd drop by and let you all know that I'm still alive and well. In looking back, I realize that it was pretty insane picking up an exotic itailain bike as my FIRST bike ever.

As an ...

The course was 2 thursdays and 2 saturdays. He was not the only instructor in my class. He's been riding for 35+ years but I wont be giving you his name or location. I think ..im done. This was a mistake to come here.

Your instructor told you not to practice figure 8s and U-turns on the bike, but thinks it's OK for you to ride on the highway

Ever riden a sportbike? The only one ive riden is a 2000 Ducati 748. I'm no expert..but I can tell you that the turning arc on the steering is NOWHERE close to that of the ...

I believe you misinterpreted what your instructor meant. There are other posts stating this same view and you glossed over them

I didnt misinterpret what my instructor said. I've been by to see him while he was teaching another set of students and he LOVES my bike. He warned me (and the other ...
