Re: Riding partners?

My goodness, there's a lot there to unpack! On the one hand, it's wonderful that the two of you can share this hobby. The ride and the destination both are always such a reward, Carrie and I often talk about how it wouldn't be fun without one another to share all those experiences with. Or, that th...

Re: Riding partners?

Due to the fact, that I don't have a significant other, I ride my own bike. I do, however, enjoy being pillion occasionally depending on who is the rider. I need to be able to trust that the rider is smooth and safe. I have ridden on the back of a couple of bikes with people I would never ride with...

Re: How many times have you dropped your bike?

Hi there, I really do appreciate your viewpoint and I do agree that it is not "normal" to drop your bike. But I still have trouble agreeing that it is the SAME as a crash. I would like to offer 2 examples that may be information you are not familiar with: 1. the ST models (both 1100 and 1300) have e...

Re: How many times have you dropped your bike?

Wow, I'm glad i didn't include all the times I dropped my dirt bike when i was a kid or you'd be sending me to rehab! Oddly enough, I've never dropped the Victory which is heavier than your Nomad. (btw the ST 1300 loaded and with a passenger is also close to 900 lbs so yeah, it does compare) Not sur...

Re: How many times have you dropped your bike?

When you ride a bike as heavy as an ST 1300 Honda you are going to drop it at some point. Not riding it. But in the parking lot or at the gas station. Where there are bound to be LOTS of witnesses. Since riding ST's I have dropped mine at least 4 times. Not crashes. Just tip overs. Before that I onl...

Re: Riding partners?

[/quote] Has your wife rode pillion on the ST? Carrie's CTX1300 is a great 2Up bike when we take the kids around, and my C14 does great with a pillion rider too. Both are pretty comparable to the ST. Riding partners?

Just a survey out of curiosity. How many of you have a partner(spouse, significant other, whatever) that also rides their own bike and how many have a partner that will be the pillion? To be honest I have never seen a guy ride pillion behind his wife. Would be interested to know if there are any out...

Re: Obligatory Pic thread (for bikes)

Good morning all :) Mothers Day came early to this household and I'm ecstatic (also in love....) I've been running two bikes for years, my primary is a my candy red Ninja 650 but when our kids wanna ride along, my trusty old beauty (Honda Shadow ACE 750) does the trick. About 300 miles is the max t...

Re: THIS WEEK: 2017 Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer - VOTE TODAY

I think they are cool, whether they fit the definition of a scrambler ( which is not from the English for "mix" but the English for "move quickly if ungracefully to get some where or avoid something" ) or the definition of a cafe racer. ( Really? they used to race from one cafe to another? hmmm, kid...

Re: Tourist Trophy 2017

Best to plan your trip some years ahead of time as the accommodations are often booked that far in advance. Unless you want to camp. Then a year ahead is usually enough. You can take your bike and you can ride the race track when the racing is not in progress but be aware that most of the fatalities...

Re: THIS WEEK: 2018 Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT - VOTE NOW

Not my thing, but a cool looking machine, and a model that has done well for the company for many years. A bit too much going on visually for my tastes. Would be nice to know how heavy it is to compare it to my ST 1300. I'm sure it's lighter though. I haven't had a dirt bike or enduro since I was 20...

:cowboy: If it's a 500 it was the bomb in 1971. What's amazing is how much room is left in the frame compared to todays bikes. And it's a triple. Have an awesome birthday Mike.
