Re: It's been a while

We wanted to catch canonization of Pope John Paul II as it was being broadcast fron Rome. Something different to experience. The parking space I was backing my bike into was not well lit and my foot hit a divot. I recovered quickly enough and didn't drop my bike. I would have got such a lecture from...

Re: Afternoon Tea

My equivalent of afternoon tea since I've given up on snacking between lunch and dinner is picnic in the park. As long as hubby and I have been together he said that he never knew I prefer take-out and a bike ride over a sit down restaurant for our lunch dates. Are most partners that oblivious?

Re: It's been a while

Same here. I'm riding more this year than last and have given myself some good riding challenges. For instance, not avoiding routes that have road construction projects. It's been a great confidence boost and I find that life has presented more riding opportunities like getting up at 2am to make a 3...

Re: Ladies.......How far are you riding these days?

Hi Ladies, Not much activity on this topic, but it might have some value if it picked up again. I'm back in the saddle after a long break. Life is pretty full and hubby and I can't seem to find the time for a long ride on the weekends. I mostly put miles on my bike commuting and running errands. A c...

Re: LADIES-Do it yourself or get someone to do it for you?

Hi, About the coolant flush, do you have any tips on how with my limited hand strength I can disconnect the fuel hose from my fuel tank. My manual says to remove the tank to get to the radiator cap on my Honda Shadow 750. I'd like to do this job myself if I can get the darn hose off and back on agai...

Great, I'll start price shopping today. In the mean time, I'll be riding and getting used to my 2008 Honda Shadow Spirit 750cc. It's so nice to ride. :D

Replacement Battery

Any advice for or against swapping out electrolyte/wet cell battery for a gel type? It's for a 12v 10ah used by my 2007 Yamaha Virago 250cc. Thanks.

Have you played any of the on-line games here? It's been a while for me since my laptop bit the dust this past Fall. There are a few cute road games/simulators, but favorite was Mahjong.

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

Go for the Honda Shadow. You will be far happier in the long run. The Suzuki is not going make you happy if you want to do any highway riding. It will be at its limit and revving high all day. The Honda Shadow will be easier for a long ride and you will be more refreshed. Good point. That brings up...

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

Feeling pretty good and confident. Test rode a Honda Shadow Spirit and Aero, both are 750cc. Also rode a Suzuki S40 (650cc). The Hondas are great cruiser bikes; they are a big leap from my Virago 250cc. I had more fun on the S40. Are the S40's quirky when it comes to downshifting? I had to really st...

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

Thank you for the support Blues and Mogster. Hubby saw how thrilled I was when I got home. He immediately IM'd his friends to see if anyone has a bike for sale. Truth be told, I'm a bit achy today, but still got that grin on. :D

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

I'm feeling like I'm on top of the world. It was such a nice day today. I got up the courage to give it another go on my hubby's V-star 650. I've only been on it in a parking lot, but after looking and dreaming about moving up to a bigger bike my inner voice said that there's nothing getting in my w...

Re: We need more action in the Ladies Lounge

Did everyone go into Hibernation? It has been so mild here in Maryland, we're sort of calling it the winter that wasn't. I think it was 60 degrees on January 1. +1 on this being a mild winter. I've been able to take a ride about town on the weekends. I even got to take hubby's 650 out for spin toda...

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

Hi Katharine - I don't think that's silly at all. It is a great way to see if you want to ride, and even if you just end up riding 2 up with someone, it will make you a better passenger. I think it makes you a better driver in general, and more aware of motorcycles on the road. We all need that! Ju...

Re: Underglow Lighting & reflective stickers

The local bike shop sells rolls of reflective tape. What's the best surface to apply this onto? I'm thinking of using this on the back of my bike. With the sun setting earlier, I'm riding around at night more before getting home. Thanks.

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

Yes, I'm feeling out of sorts these days too. Back from a long holiday and the trip back to reality is tough this week. Maybe it's the change of seasons, allergies, but it sure doesn't seem to help things at work. All I can do is hang in there and look for an opportunity to get life back on track. S...

Re: Hand Signals

Hand signals do wonders. Especially in the city. Probably only 10% of people will actually understand what your signals mean but the main thing is that it gets them to notice you. +1 I used left turn hand signal the other week. Morning sun in my eyes, my left turn coming up soon after going through...

Re: Disturbing and alarming statistics

Yep. Agree with Thumper on the rider skills... I ran up on a single motorcycle accident last fall. Dude was trying to navigate his old Honda Goldwing through a sweeping left turn, was going too fast, bike slid out of the curve and into some trees. He was torn up a bit but otherwise ok but his bike ...

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

Monday and it's back to reality. Had a pretty descent weekend. BUT the takeout joint got my order wrong and after mowing another section of lawn (only 50% done) I just wanted to put the mower away and call it a day. Can't really put my finger on it, so I guess I'm simply tired.
