Hey--I'm in Carlisle and I ride year 'round except when there's ice and snow on the road. I got in a short one Sunday after the snow.shadowryder wrote:It snowed yesterday and I realized that the riding season is probably over.

Re: 2011 R1200R
I'm with you. In July 2010 I traded my F800ST for an R1200R. It quickly became my favorite thing I've ever owned in my life. I bought it with the touring package and added a wind screen and BMW comfort seat. I've had it a little more than 15 months and have put 28,000 miles/45,100 K on it. It's chan...

Re: Are rider denim pants worth two squats?
I think the bottom line is that riding jeans are more protection than regular jeans, but less than ballistic riding pants. So it just depends on how willing you are to take some additional risk for comfort. Personally, I almost always wear riding jeans or cargo pants, or logger jeans when the temper...

Re: New Rider Anxiety
That's a good point. I had a buddy who was attempting to learn to ride. I urged him to get out of his neighborhood with all of the stop signs and potential threats and on to quiet country roads as soon as he felt comfortable. He didn't and totaled his new Triumph a block from his house on his third ...

Re: New Rider Anxiety
I think you're doing it exactly right. I set a series of stages of increasing difficulty for myself, from the neighborhood, to side roads low traffic, moderate roads low traffic, small town low traffic, and so forth. I eventually worked up to interstates and big cities, rain, and night. At every ste...

Re: What are your thoughts on rider education? (MSF or beyon
I've taken the BRC and the ERC three times. I know I need to move on to something like the Lee Parks course, but the BRC/ERC is free in my state. I guess my only frustration with the ERC was that there seems to be significant variation among coaches. Last summer, I took it for the second time and to...

Re: ARE HARLEYS WHAT THEY ARE CRACKED UP TO BE?
I think part of the explanation is simply market dominance--there are more of them out there, so there will be more for sale. I also think it's a result of Harley's marketing strategy. They've been very successful at marketing them as a "lifestyle choice." I don't mean this critically--it...

Re: ARE HARLEYS WHAT THEY ARE CRACKED UP TO BE?
Notice in any of your local classified motorcycle for sale adds, you will see MOST of the bikes for sale are HD's If everybody loves their HD so much why are they selling it for? I think part of the explanation is simply market dominance--there are more of them out there, so there will be more for ...
