Re: To Ride an Iron Horse - Jack of the Green's Blog

I loved reading about your travels. You're a good writer too--very descriptive. I look forward to reading more. Welcome!

Dogs and more dogs...

My hubby and I rode our bikes about 60 miles today. We had a meeting to go to and then had lunch with my middle daughter and her husband at Taco Bell before coming home. On the way home, my husband had got ahead of me by quite a bit and I'm not one to let him run off. So, I decided to step on it a l...

Re: Ladies.......How far are you riding these days?

I love your V-Star. It's beautiful! Last month I rode the Tail of the Dragon and went a few other places. I too was worn out when I got home. If it hadn't been so hot, I would have enjoyed it more. My brothers are talking about riding down to Daytona next year but they're saying we should put our bi...

I'm glad you cleared up the geezer thing. You were making me feel old because you're younger than me!

Re: The Grand Vista of Bards

Hey y'all! Does anyone have any advice about staying cool when you're bike riding on such horribly hot days? We've been reaching into the 100's and more here in Kentucky and I've never been able to stand the heat. No matter how much water I drink, the heat makes me miserable.

Re: Anyone up for a book about a new lady rider?

Thanks Andrea, for embedding the video for me.
And Kudos to you, Big red! I love it when I see another lady rider out there and get to give her the biker wave. I feel like I'm a member of an elite group.

Re: The Grand Vista of Bards

Hi Jack, Thanks for the compliment. Has your mom expressed an interest in riding? I know starting out on a scooter isn't for everyone but it was good for me. It allowed me to learn to ride before I had to deal with changing gears. To deal with everything at once might have been too much for me. Mayb...

While I'm at it, I'm going to share a link to the video trailer of, "As if They Always Knew." It's a Christian Biker Love Story. How many of those have you read? :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05C1uCC6W1g

Re: The Grand Vista of Bards

We got back from our trip to Gatlinburg and riding the Tail of the Dragon last week. We were hot and sore and very tired. The temperature was in the 90's most of the time. It felt like we were riding in an oven. But there was some relief. In the shadows of the Tennessee mountains, the cool air was s...

Anyone up for a book about a new lady rider?

Hey everyone! I just published a new novel (I have three out in paperback and several out as ebooks) about a young widow who seizes life again by learning to ride a motorcycle:

I think you'll enjoy it!

Re: The Grand Vista of Bards

Hey MZ33, are you still out there? I see I never replied to the post you wrote in 2010! I hope you haven't walked rode around with hurt feelings for almost two years. lol Anyway, like I said in my last post, I quit coming on here for a long time and then my hubby took my computer apart. I didn't hav...

Re: The Grand Vista of Bards

Hello to all my old friends on here! I couldn't believe how much time had passed since I wrote on my blog or replied to others. But when I checked the dates, I saw that my last post was in April of 2009. I've been writing a whole lot. (I actually wrote a book about a woman learning to ride and publi...

Of dogs and dragons

I was getting ready to park my bike at Wal-Mart when low and behold, two women on bikes rode right in front of me. I took off after them and blew my horn. They stopped and we ended up talking the whole time my hubby was in the store. (Suits me fine. I don't like shopping anyway.) Anyway, we talked a...

Re: Help please, Ladies training

When I was learning, I remember being afraid of tearing up the bike by not changing the gears correctly. The result was that I didn't want to take a gear to the top of the band. Someone commented earlier that some women have been put down so much they have been made to feel like they can't do things...

Please don't ride that bike. If you have to swallow your pride now, it's still better than riding in the back of an ambulance.

Re: The Grand Vista of Bards

Hi J Stark, Dustin had told me a little something about some kind of requirements but I didn't know the Marines were doing all that! That's great. He had told me that they had talked to them a lot about the dangers of riding and he spouted some statistics once that were pretty scary. I don't have an...

Re: The Grand Vista of Bards

There are three things I always wear when I ride now: a full face helmet, protective boots and leather gloves with extra protection on the knuckles. I also have a reflective jacket with protective body armor that I paid a pretty penny for but I mostly wear it at night. No doubt, I should wear it all...

Re: Beginner Stories and Emotionally compromised

Hello! I wanted to agree with the last post. I started with a large scooter (a 400 that weighed 450 lbs. that could go over 100 mph) but after only riding it around the yard for a couple of days, I ventured out onto the hwy. I didn't have any idea how ill prepared I was. The first car that came up b...
