Re: CMDRA Bike Drags

We ran this 1460 Sportster at the drags in Ashcroft. It pulled a 12.0 @ 110 mph. Best run of the year!

Here is a shot of me at the "Bike Wars" event in Terrace, BC.

CMDRA Bike Drags

Is any one going to the Bike Drags in Ashcroft, BC on the 17/18 July weekend. If you are riding to the event and do not have a "Bug Run" target you should contact me if you would like one. If you are heading there from the Smithers area you can throw your gear in the fast truck. My toll free # is 87...

Re: Racing Jobs

Here is how it works. Research a shop that likes to race. Try to get a job there doing whatever you can. (Preferably in the shop.) Work your a$$ off for them and volunteer at the track for them. Git er done! Sam.

See you at the Ashcroft, BC CMDRA drags on July 17/18. We're gonna Git er done!

Front or rear?

I have had one front tire blow and several back tires. All were in decent shape at the time. The front let go in a downhill corner doing about 70mph. It stood up in front of an oncoming motorhome. I could see his eyes were bigger than my headlight but he never backed off. I just "horsed" it over to ...

Back wheel or front?

 I have about 70,000km (42,00 miles) on the back wheel and about 69,793 on the front wheel, same bike. It's a 91 sporty. The 1460 motor only has about 5000 km on it.

Help, 97 F650 Hard/no start?

I am trying to diagnose a tough start for a buddy with a 97 F650. This is wierd but here is the story. The bike came in under its own power with the complaint of "hard starting." This was in summer temps. I fiddled with the choke adjustment a bit and away he went. He put some gas in it and and let h...

Can't wait till this is done. I should be able to finish it this winter. That is a 90 hp Pan by S&S. I know this is a Harley column but there is not one bolt of Harley in this.

Of all the colors in the universe, gloss black is fine if used as pinstriping on flat black!

I sure like the mid range of the 2-1.

I sure like the hit of the three steps.

My name is Sam. I live in northern BC, Smithers to be exact. I have been riding for about forty years. I am a journeyman motorcycle mechanic by trade. I grew up on on Hondas, Yamahas, Kawis and later a few Harleys. (Big twins and sportys.) My current street bike is a 91 Sporty. It has been modified ...

Dyna Ignitions, Still in business?

Has anyone heard from Dyna lately? I know we can still buy their parts but I have not been able to reach them by phone or computer. Where is their tech support. I love their products but where are they now?

Harley wheelie

Here is a wheelie on a Harley for you! This was done at a drag strip. No cops, all speed! 7.55 @ 92 mph in the 1/8th mile. Ya, I know, this is not a "stunt" wheelie, but it will pull a big one in first or second. The trick is to keep the front wheele down on the strip with this bike. 1460 S&S Sporty...

Hi from Smithers BC. Is any body on this forum from northern BC? There is snow on the ski hill today. I rode my Harley to work today. We rode up the Dome on our dirt bikes on Sun. There was snow up top.

Post your 1/4 or 1/8th mile Sportster times.

I am curious if anybody is drag racing a sportster. I would like to know 1/4 mile and 1/8th mile times and trap speeds. This is most relevant for street bikes on street tires with no wheelie bar. If you have a really fast strip bike let us know what that does too! Whacha got cookin? Year and mods? [...
