Re: My new bike

Nice! I'm on my first bike too... mine's a 750 Shadow Spirit - that's what yours is, right?
I love it! I'm always looking for a reason to ride it :)

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

@Blues2cruise, I think I saw that on the news - I live in Seattle. Ya, earthquakes are a very weird feeling - like you're dizzy or light headed. It's even worse if you're in your car - you think your front end alignment is going out or you've hit some oil on the road and are slipping - it's frighten...

@Wrider,
That makes total sense :)
Is it a lot of work to fix something like that? The bike is still under warranty - I hope it's covered.

Re: Our greatest fear as bikers...

Hiya Vladut50,
My couple of pennies as well...

Greatest fear:
Being rear-ended and smashed between two cars.

Most difficult to learn:
Proper cornering.

Biggest problem:
Being caught unprepared in bad weather.

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

Hey girls, just wanted to wine... I told my good friends daughter (11yrs going on 25) that as soon as I got my backrest put on my bike I would take her to the shore for an ice cream. I'm supposed to pick her up this Sunday - and I had to put my bike in the shop today. I know she'll understand, but I...

Bike is running out of gas with a full tank

Hi all, Just about to bring my bike into the shop - I really don't want to live without it for a few days - but I may not have a choice... It's a 2009 Shadow Spirit. It holds 3 gallons and runs out of gas every 40 or 50 miles. I have to turn the reserve on. It'll stop doing it for a while and then s...

Re: Gas Line Problem

Hi all,
the bike actually runs out and i have to reach down and switch to reserve. There is no fuel gauge - i go by mileage.
Hmmm, sounds like it might be a plugged fuel valve - it's not hot enough here in Seattle for vapor lock (i wish).

Thanks all,

Gas Line Problem

Hi all, normally I would just take my bike into the shop when I have a problem, but it's a two week wait and I'm leaving for a short jaunt on the bike next week. Here's my problem: I have a 3 gallon tank and my bike runs out of gas after like 50 miles - then when I go to fill it up, it only needs on...

Re: Cruiser bike for long road-trip -- any of you done it?

Hiya SoloVoyager,
hopefully I'll be taking a 200 mile (each way) to the beach this weekend - if my bike gets the 'thumbs-up' from my mechanic. I've never toured on a bike before. Mines a 750 Honda Shadow. I'll let you know how it went.

@ agraebner: Thanks - I took your advise and brought it in to have my mechanic give it a look-over. Hopefully, it's nothing. But, I suspect it's an out of balance wheel.

@ gsjack: LOL... loved that post :)

Touring on a 750 Honda Shadow

Any one out there ever tour on their 750 Honda? I'm considering taking my bike on a 200 mile journey to the beach. I would be riding alone - but during the day. I've never taken my bike out of the city. I use it as a commuter vehicle. One of my concerns is that it shakes a bit after 65mph. I never r...

Re: Forgot to put down the kickstand?

I forgot the stand and dropped the bike in MSF class. I was mortified!! 'cuz u know... if you drop it twice - UR OUT! Teacher said it didn't count because the bike wasn't running - I love that guy :) I've always been grateful that I dropped one of the 'beaters' from school and not my own. Now every ...

I think I'll save the iPod for long trips. It's a little too easy to get distracted by good music :)

Re: Clutch and Cotton Candy! What did you smell today?

Back - attcha Blues2cruise,
I was riding through a slightly boggy/woodsy area and could smell the wet dirt and trees. Actually, the mixture kinda smelled like raw cinnamon bark - it was wonderful!

Re: Cold weather riding?

Oh hey scalewag, I forgot to mention... I'm new to street bike's too. I'm used to motocross. A word of advise - don't put your foot down on a corner - hehehe Oh and - no breaking on a corner... and, and... gravel is BAD for street bikes. Quite a different animal all together actually - you're gonna ...
