Re: First bike - Honda CB/CL350 or...?

Lovely! One of my favorites (I loved the one in the film too-- I pegged it as a vintage Honda CB right away). If I ever get a bike, I'd be looking into a vintage Honda myself (though I'd probably be looking at a dual-sport--XL250 or XL350-- with the CB350 being my second choice). Have you looked aro...

Re: Is it a good idea to learn to ride on a vintage bike?

Good to read. If I got a bike (some day! I keep dreaming!) I'd want a 70s-era Honda-- either XL250/XL350 or perhaps CB350. And I've always wondered if vintage is a bad idea for a first bike-- if they tend to have idiosyncrasies that make life for a beginner difficult that might be fixed on a newer b...

Re: Pet Peeves of the Morning

Folks at the gym who don't put stuff away. If you're going to drag 5-6 sets of dumbbells and an incline bench all the way from the free-weight area into the open area that people use for stretching/I use for dance practice, don't leave them there when you're done. It's not that I *can't* move them. ...

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

Hell, I go drinking with my boss, so taking an MSF class is no big deal, lol. The only thing that will be awkward is that he's been taking his bike on spins around the neighborhood, whereas I'll be coming into it having never even been on a bike, so I dunno exactly how much "moral support" I'll get ...

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

Haha! Love the sign! My boss bought a bike this fall and was looking for an MSF course... he missed all of them for the season so plans on doing it next spring. He said he'd let me know when he picks one as I might take it at the same time (shuttup, moral support!). Is that silly? No way could I aff...

Re: How to take a shower

Almost died laughing because it's SO TRUE!!! But for the men's part, they forgot "clip nails into sink, leave bits all over" and "turn off water but not shower, so when your SO goes to rinse the cat bowl under the bathtub faucet (while bending over into the bathtub to reach), the sound effects go li...

If you ride a computer chair why do you need a helmet? Do you have dangerous co-workers?   Yes. :pfft: http://photos.imageevent.com/motorbiker/newspics3/Mototivational-Motorcycle-Poster-05.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/motorbiker/newspics4/Motorcycle-Motivational-P...

Re: Are they trying to save my Life??

Have they seen you ride and are basing it on skills they've observed, or are they just assuming based on your perceived lack of experience? That would be your first question. If these are people you've ridden with a lot, then you might ask if they've actually seen things that concern them. If you've...

Re: Ladies - how do you feel today?

Ladiees... I am so tired of PINK that I could scream! Was having a browse around motorcyclecloseouts.com because I was thinking about taking a BRC come spring just to try out riding (the classes are cheap enough). I don't mind getting the other required gear secondhand (jacket, gloves, etc.) but I d...

Have you ever driven a car with a manual transmission? I'm sure it won't be quite the same, but some of the same principles might transfer (at least, so I'm hoping :) ).

Re: Poll: New riders, do you consider weight of a motorcycle

I absolutely would... On a "fat day," soaking wet, I might weigh 115 pounds. I'm stronger than most people expect, but it's a fact I don't get to the gym as much as I ought. I'd probably be laying that sucker down a lot when I started out (same reason I wouldn't buy a bike with a still-perfect paint...

I was right pissed when I heard about this. I'm a big journalism geek, which means I'm all for the free exchange of information. Not to mention I hate the social injustice of depriving the many to punish the few.

Re: New biker with a couple of questions

It should be on the sidewall, if cycle tires are anything like auto tires. Hang on, let me google it and see if I can figure it out. Okay, here we go: http://www.canyonchasers.net/shop/generic/tires.php (scroll down to "Tire Age") http://www.ehow.com/how_6904540_tell-age-motorcycle-tires.html http:/...

Awesome thread! I love the vintage bikes. The other day I thought I saw what could've been an old Honda dual-sport across an intersection, but my light turned green before I got to find out. :(

Re: Q: Free TMW stickers for SASE or $5 donation?

I was thinking sticking them in other places (no, don't go there) Oops. I already got on that bus and told the driver to floor it... after this: Donation--I'm horrible about actually mailing things out and who wouldn't want to start selling stickers online to pay for his more risque hobbies? Today... not much so far. About to wash my hair (it's long, so that's more of an undertaking than it sounds. Takes an hour or two to dry). It should go great if I don't keep catching and yanking my industrial piercing this time, ow. Heading to my mom's later to watch fireworks--she lives on the 12th...

Re: Want a real life Tron lightcycle? Just cough up US$55,00

Resurrecting an old thread, but some friends and I (all of us being non-riders) are having a debate over whether a cycle design like that would be horribly unmaneuverable due to the width (either in the real world or, for that matter, inside the Tron world). It just looks terribly clunky. Wouldn't i...

DAMN! You're good. My partner's dad is obsessed with that movie... I had never even heard of it before that, lol. Is that one of those cult classics and I just never knew it? S&*T! 'classic' ? dad? dammit, that movie was in the 80's - and please don't tell me it qualifies for 'classic' status or .....
