Re: Just when I think I have it figured out...

If you want the best of both worlds (looks of a cruiser, power of a sport bike) try to find a old Suzuki GS or other Japanese bikes form that era. If you are mechanically inclined, keeping a vintage bike running is a breeze. I have a 82 Suzuki GS 750 that I LOVE more than I love my car or dog. It's ...

Re: Loudest HD model?

Also, don't be afraid to go look at bikes other than Harleys. If you compare the price tag of a 2 year old Harley Dyna or Sportster to a 2 year old Honda Shadow or Yamaha V-Star, the Honda or Yamaha are going to be about 3 to 5 grand less than the Harley and the 950 V-Star is a damn nice bike. Not t...

Re: New rider -- oh DEER!

My first weekend out, I almost T-Boned a driver who turned right in front of me. Don't let incidents like this keep you from enjoying one of the greatest activities I have ever found. That deer probably stepped out to get a better view and admire your Shadow.

Re: Our greatest fear as bikers...

1. I'm still a new rider so my biggest fear is leaning too far in a turn and losing it
2. low speed turning gave me problems
3. around here, my biggest problems seems to be stupid teenage drivers not paying attention and the occasional bee in the face.

I'd enjoy a classic/vintage forum. I got complemented on my 82 suzuki gs750 today by a bunch of guys on vintage bikes. Made my day.

Welcome to the forums. That's a pretty nice looking bike you've got there. If you're anything like me or my friends, within a couple weeks, the bike will become your daily driver.

Re: Obligatory Pic thread (for bikes)

This afternoon, I painted my bike. The original paint was worn out with several spots that needed new paint. I spent less than $50 on supplies and did a decent job rattle canning her (for now)

She's a 1982 Suzuki GS 750. I call her Sasha. She's my Femme Fatale.

Re: First weekend riding by myself.

Leave it? The way I was raised, when you get bucked off the horse, you complain a little, get back on and show the horse who is boss. Thanks for the advice though, Mogster. I'm hoping the guy learned his lesson. The cop nailed him with everything he could because the cop was also a biker.

First weekend riding by myself.

So last weekend, I took the MSF course, this weekend was the first chance I got to actually go out riding. It may not seem like much but in 2 days, I managed to put 200 miles on my bike around town and on some close by country roads. I now know why dogs love sticking their heads out the windows of m...

Re: Beginner Jacket

for a cheap jacket, a friend suggested for me leatherup.com, I've got my eye on one of the jackets that is vented and padded in all the key areas, plus a zip out liner. its only $120 USD so even if it isn't that great of a motorcycle jacket, its not so expensive that I'll feel ripped off. http://lea...

we just recently got a Victory dealership around here and I drive by it about once a week. The other day they had 3 2011 highballs sitting out front, I slowed down to drool. The more I see them, the more I want a victory.

Re: First day on a bike...

I did about the same thing my first time out, don't feel too bad. I would recommend the MSF if possible. and as far as safety gear goes, you can buy kevlar motorcycle pants that would protect better than regualr denim.

Re: I'm an idiot.

Well, I just pulled the ignition. Now I just have to wait for the keys to be made. It took me about 20 minutes, a phillips screwdriver, a size 12 socket wrench and an allen wrench, not sure the size. I removed the headlight so I could get behind it, took the 2 allen screws out of the ignition switch...
