Re: Isle of Man TT review 2011
I raced there a few times back in 69-73 on a production 250 Yamaha street bike with a top speed of just over 100mph. It was scary enough. These modern guys are supermen.

Re: what would you recommend for a first bike for me.
Do they have the CBR250 in the States? It's nice. The Ninja 250's good too. Both have a lot of plastic to break when you fall off. Don't get a SV unless you're tall - they''re relatively top-heavy compared to the littl'uns (although they DO have ABS. How about a Suzuki GS500 - fairly low and slim ...

Re: Victory Motorcycles the fastest growing large motorcycle
Oh the disappointment. From the title I thought this was going to be about large bras.

Re: Is it a good idea to learn to ride on a vintage bike?
It should be character-building. I learnt to ride on all sorts of clapped-out old (classic, or just old?) bikes in the UK and sure learnt a lot about how bikes work (and don't). Nothing like riding home in a snowstorm with a throttle cable tied to your thumb to learn
bike control!

Re: Reflective Motorcycle Vests.
I tried a construction vest - neon cross-bucks - and it seemed to enrage cagers. On a really crappy wet foggy day I didn't care much as long as they saw me.. Maybe MIL-spec would be better.

Re: How to make yourself noticed to cagers
I tried a neon-colour construction vest but it seemed to enrage car drivers. My Scorpion EXO-700 neon helmet, on the other hand, is blindingly obvious without side effects. I'm going to try a yellow motorcycle jacket when my old one wears out

Re: What makes a classic motorcycle?
A classic isn't just old - it has to have a little extra (Norton Commando, Vincent, Round-case Ducati?) Probably a bit sporty and unreliable when new, more so now. Anold clunker like a BSA M20 might be fun - but it ain't a classic.

Re: Wind Noise = deal breaker
Get a BMWR1200RT - quietest bike I've ever owned. But my EXO-700 helmet is still noisy! Earplugs help - not much. Yup, helmet design has a way to go - but I love the neon colour of mine!!! People actually notice!!!

Re: "Casual" Rider - yes or no?
Anyone who's ever spent a couple of hour getting gravel out of their kneees with a nailbrush isn't going to wear shorts on their bike again - and maybe not jeans. I wear the full gear. It won't save you from everything - I've got friends who are dead to prove it - but it helps. Don't forget the ...
