Sparks Nevada

Hey Riders! I have relocated to Sparks Nevada as of 2 weeks ago! Idaho is tough for finding work. I could bartend if I wanted to work for 3.50 an hour and drive 25 miles one way, but it's tough riding a motorcycle during the winter months there. I WILL say I rode up there till the beginning of Novem...

Re: Why I ride

Coeur d'Alene has about 43,000 to 45,000. Spokane is 35 miles away and has probably close to 100,000. By LA standards that's nothing, but by Alaska standards that's a big city! :cold:

Re: Why I ride

Update. I did sell my place and am packing up my truck, two bikes and renting a Penske truck that a friends gonna drive up and I'm on my way. I was up in Idaho a couple of weeks ago to find a place to buy (this is only the second time I've been there. Once 5 years ago I drove through Coeur d'Alene) ...

Re: Why I ride

It's me again. I got a weird post this morning from this site, saying it was a "private message". Someone saying it was nice to meet me even though I have no idea who they are and asking if I want to be friends then mentioning some biker dating site? :ermm: almost a little creepy? Maybe it's just me...

Re: heel shifter

Wanted to update here with my SV. When I first said it was hard to shift that was kind of an understatement. I'd been fighting with it for a couple of months and decided to have my mechanic put a new clutch on. Having never ridden one of these bikes I had nothing to compare it to. Well I was waiting...

Re: Why I ride

Good morning everyone. Thought I should update here and check in. I took the MSC and the first week there was 4 in my group. 2 had never ridden, one was a young chick small like me. Everyone passed but me. 21 points. 20 is a pass. :baby: I did the walk of shame off the practice pad, got on my bike a...

Re: Why I ride

Welcome Sabrina!
Nice to have you here. I love the title they gave you. Tricycle Squid. When I get older maybe I inherit that too!
Where are you located if you mind me asking? I'm in the East Bay California. (San Jose San Fran)

Re: Why I ride

I decided to take the safety class (and finish it this time). It starts Friday. This bypasses the riding test at the DMV. They give you a test at the school and it gives you an M1 if you pass. This way when I show up in court :banging: for the speeding ticket, I'll have it. I'll also have it for all...

Re: I Just Wanna Ride (and rock some tunes too)!

This post is from a few years ago. Curious if you're still on here? I have been trying to find a way to listen to my iPod while riding and after many cheap sets of headphones, and more recently a very over priced set from Monster called iSport that has taken a crap (one side works just enough to fin...

Re: Why I ride

Yes indeed. The class. I took it 4 years ago. When I was married for a week. (literally). We were going to ride together after I learned how, blah blah blah. It's a three day course. The morning of day three after Mr. Wonderful and I had been up till 4:00 AM arguing (again) I called the schoo...

Re: Why I ride

Hi again, I've now officially rode my SV650s! What a hoot! I also have a recent incident to share. I was on the freeway Friday late for work as usual, in the number one lane (carpool which IS legal on a motorcycle as you probably know) I was doing about 80+ for a minute or two, but had to drop down ...

Re: heel shifter

Still trying to figure out how to work this site. I posted a pic with my SV, but I wanted it next to this area where I'm posting? What's the secret?
Anyway I rode it yesterday for the first time. What a blast! I think the clutch needs adjusting a bit, it's a little tough up shifting.

Re: heel shifter

[/img]HEY! :kicking: Just got finished adding the lowering kit to the SV and put two new tires on! With my flat riding boots I am touching the ground flat footed! I'm sooooo excited! I feel way more stable and ready to ride! Thanks for everyone that chimed in here. The input and support were really ...

Re: heel shifter

Today is the day!! Got two new tires and the lowering kit for the SV. I'm going to show my mechanic what you all wrote and help with getting the bike mods done and see how it feels. If all is a go I'm gonna go! GO GO GO!

Re: Why I ride

Hi NJ! I agree 100% about f&*g CELL PHONES! :frusty: Probably my biggest pet peeve about Ca. in general. Here in the Bay area (San Jose & San Fran) 98% of the people here have one strapped to their head at all times. In the bar where I work I've started telling new customers when they come in and th...

Re: heel shifter

Hey everyone! First I want to say how REALLY really keen it is to receive all the responses, comments, etc. here on TMW. THANK YOU! It makes me smile :D Having said that I did research, look into, learn about different bikes before buying the one I did. I went to look at a GSXR750 (1999) that a guy ...

Re: Why I ride

I understand and as I explained here the State of California doesn't require you to be pardoned for DUIs. The only time a pardon is required, or issued (upon petitioning the Governor) is if you have a felony that you did prison time for. The Canadian side in my case considers 2 DUI's a felony. I wou...

Re: Why I ride

The US probably has the most lenient drinking laws in the world. It is actually broken down from state to state here. The only federal law in place is the 21 years old to drink law. If a state chooses not to abide by that there's no federal funding for roads etc. So there are no states now that aren...

Re: heel shifter

Hi there all the way in South Africa is it? WOW! To answer your question I'm 5'2" which in centimeters translates to really short. 8) I have only been riding about a year. 150cc scooter, to Suzuki C50 (which has a heel shifter) and now a Suzuki SV650s. The seat height is 61/2 inches higher then my o...

Re: Why I ride

I suppose it's the courteous thing to clear the air (since I brought it up). Being a bartender for over 20 years now I learned that there's a thin line to walk between everyone expecting you to be a part of the constant party and keeping the party going. Back in 1990 I hadn't learned this yet howeve...
