Re: This Week: 2014 Ural Gear Up - Vote Today

Over-priced Russian junk. Totally unreliable and with a laughable warranty. Other than that they're OK. :P

Take a look at the thread on ADVRider about why should not buy a Ural - it's quite an entertaining thread.

Although its clearly a design derivative of the Griso (nice way of saying BMW ripped off Guzzi's design) I still have to give it an awesome. :)

Re: This week: 2014 Yamaha V-Star 250: Vote Today

Cruisers are simply not meant to be that small - it is counter to how I define a cruiser. Cruisers are meant for straight line highway riding so I simply think that any cruiser with 250cc's is welll....ummm....wrong :) .

I can only picture it on an MSF range, so a definite "meh" (aka uncool) for me.

That is a thoroughly ugly bike in so many ways so I had to vote fail.

Re: Too big for sport bike?

I started with a 2007 Honda Shadow vlx 600. It's a great starter bike and really handles well. You can pick up a used one at a fairly reasonable price. I would not recommend buying a new bike as your first bike as you'll likely want something completely different once you start riding. I was always ...

The gold forks kept me from hitting awesome. I checked the Yamaha site and it looks like its standard on 2014 and silver was on 2013. I have as much fondness for gold as I do for minivans.

Re: 2014 Honda CTX700N - Coolness Factor = 43.9%

If you can add bags and a backrest, it is pretty cool for a 2 up cruiser. Totally agree, especially since bags may slightly hide those fugly pipes. I also wish it offered ABS as a stand-alone enhancement without the auto-crap. A 3 gallon tank on a cruiser is just wrong. If the nc700x did not exist,...

Not sure where to start but totally odd-looking mini-bike. Voted fail but as Mike mentioned I, too, may be looking at it through my aged glasses.

Re: Cruiser VS Dual Purpose

Completely agree with replies. I had an idea of what type of bike I wanted before the course and it definitely changed after. I thought I would go with a cbr250 sport bike. After taking the course I thought I would prefer a cruiser (prefer the forward controls and seating position) so I decided on a...

Re: Cleaning Chrome Exhaust

Use 4/0 Steel wool (its finest that's commonly available). If you use too heavy a steel pad (like a brillo or SOS) you may leave swirls but the 4/0 will take a little longer but leave a really nice finish. Don't use any liquid with it. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowes.

Re: Rider Tips: Getting Your New Motorcycle Home.

So glad I found this thread as I'm picking up my bike next week - 2007 Honda VLX600 (saw a number of posters in this thread with same bike :) ). I passed the MSF class last month but have little experience riding. I have a 50 mile ride from the dealer in Dover, DE to my home in New Castle (50 mile r...

2007 VLX 600

Just bought a 2007 VLX 600 (pics to follow when I reach my minimum post count). This is my first bike and looking for any tips/pointers on the bike before I pick it up next week.

Re: New rider and bike choices

Ended up abandoning the Harley idea as I just thought it was just a tad too big for me to start on so ended up buying a 2007 Honda Shadow VLX 600. So I ended up staying within the rule 34HP and 450 LBs :)
