Re: What was your first bike and how did you come to own it?

58 triumph tigercub 200. found it laying on the side of a barn with grass growing up through it for $25. Cleaned the plug, aired up the tires, put some gas in it and it fired right up. Rode it for 2 years before I went into the service in 1976.

Re: How many crashes in how many years?

Been riding since 1975 with no crashes on pavement. Millions of times in the dirt. Use to race a lot. Problem now is that there are 10x the cars on the road and as you get older your reaction time slows a bit. Re: New rider looking for a bike!

This is what a Rebel can do. http://scott58.webs.com/roadtrip.htm Since that trip it went through 14 states and 2 countries. Saved enough on gas over my buddies bike to stay in hotels for free.

Re: Looking for info on greater deals gap area for next year

Been a few years since I was down there but, 11 miles 318 turns of great road. I just grabbed one of the tourist maps when I got there. Good food, fair hotel prices. I stayed in Pigeon Forge on the main drag there. Try the aligator at Huck finns. It was great!

Re: First Bike Advice: 2003 Suzuki VS800 Intruder

I have an 05 and it's a good bike. Light for a cruiser that size (reason I bought mine) and pretty fast. I've got almost twice the miles on mine with no issues. Just tire and battery change. The price is right. Go for it. If for some reason you don't like it you could sell it and probably make a pro...

I've been through 14 states and canada on my Honda Rebel. Pretty sure the 750 would be a cake walk.

They suck for commuter bikes but it can be done. It depends on the model too. They're mostly fun on the track and the twisties where they shine. What kind of sport bike are you thinking of getting for a commuter? That depend on the commute. I went through chicago last week on my S50 and it's about t...

In word parts not to mention the failure you already mentioned. My first bike was a 58 triumph tigercub 200. It was a love hate relationship. When it ran I was in love, when it didn't..... I too looked at the enfield, but in the end being practical won out. I bought a Rebel which is pretty much twic...
