Thanks BuzZz I bent it by forgetting to take off a disc lock and tried to pull away, skidded on my front wheel for a couple feet. Let me please confirm what you are saying: I can take off one rotor and actually leave the brake pads in the calipers? I haven't inspected it closely yet and I hav...

Changing front rotors on an SV650, advice needed please.

I bent my right front brake rotor and found a deal an a pair of used ones on ebay. I ride an 03 SV650 with about 9500 miles and the pair of used rotors I bought are from an 04 SV650 with a claimed 4100 miles on them. First, can anyone suggest a quick fix while I wait for my rotors to be shipped? Can...

I just thought of another one... Don't park your bike at the movie theater. I heard about a guy who hangs out at movie theaters and watches for bikers to buy their tickets. Then he waits for them to go inside and he knows he has nearly 2 hours to work. Two hours is plenty of time to steal a bike but...

Some people will argue that helmets give you blind spots and reduce your hearing or whatever. I honestly like wearing a helmet because it keeps the bugs outta my hair  I don't get this..... if I am moving faster than about 20 mph, all I can hear is the wind howling through the hollow of my hea...

Wow, what a difference the weather makes! I like in the suburbs of Denver riding the same bike as you almost (2 years older). I manage 575 a year for full coverage. Granted the weather and the auto theft rule most of that difference. But for 21yrs old I am very happy with my rate. Since you are in ...

Is it me? or are you being sarcastic about the BMW? I thought that was a very capable dual sport machine, except the tires look a little street oriented.

Disc lock is a good deterrent. A thief wont steal a bike they cant roll. Other good tips are to make it harder for a thief to get your bike started, loosen a spark plug, or set up some kinda ignition cut off. A thief wont steal a bike that they think has mechanical problems.

approx 150 miles before the fuel light goes on-on my 03 SV650 and on avg I put 3.4 gallons in it which equates out to approx 44 mpg. I think I should be getting better mileage, and would love longer range. I usually fill up as soon as the light goes on, because I would rather fuel up on my way home ...

Dual exhaust for my 03 SV650. I really prefer the look of a symmetrical rear-end.

I carry a disc brake lock(actually just a big padlock) and use it whenever I park my bike in an area that I don't trust. Well I never use it at work because we have security and covered parking and only one entrance. Anyway, I decided one day I would start using it since I do park my bike at work fo...
