Did beginning bikers come back to life? It was gone for a couple of years over a legal battle between the owner and the operator. I belong to here to share with newer folks as best I can. I belong to 2 brand-forums per brand of bike I own. And to ADVrider because I like to travel and those guys have...

This is my wife on her bike:

Whenever we stop, the women come up to her and ask about riding and stuff. I am sure the men notice, but they can't get by the women to cause a problem....

Arrr! - This one is often confused with arrrgh, which is of course the sound you make when you sit on a belaying pin. "Arrr!" can mean, variously, "yes," "I agree," "I'm happy," "I'm enjoying this beer," "My team is going to win it all," "I saw that television show, it sucked!" and "That was a clev...

I took the BRC at a Harley dealer (Riders Edge) and used the 500cc Blast. I got a used 2002 and rode it until my wife took the class and then took the Blast. I put 1,600 miles on it in a few months. Very easy bike to ride, and hauled my fat butt up above 85MPH one time. (I dropped it the first time ...

I like the bike, but I don't like the Softail design.

I like the Sportster and Dyna rear ends with visible shocks. And the Softail won't haul the load the other models will.

new tires, fluids, and you may end up needing new seals and gaskets as the old ones dried out and may leak. Keep an eye on them.

New tires at least every 5 years, as they get hard.

(Don't have that problem on my bikes. I end up wearing a set out every year.)

On "most" bikes you are supposed to check the oil when it is hot.

I assume the same is true for your bike.

Ride it for 20 minutes, then check it.

(The following is the "short" version) Too many unknowns. Could be the battery. Could be the bike's charging system. Not too many wet cell batteries in bikes any more. More have gel or AGM. You need the right charger/battery tender for the battery. Too easy to overcharge the battery and toast it.

My RT is great, but if I could do it all over, there is a guy in NC selling a R1200C with an esily removed/eplaced side car.

Gorgeous and dual purpose. WHat a hoot.

I didn't vote, 'cause:

If I could have only 1 bike (my current situation) I would have the RT or GS/GSA.

If I could have 2 bikes, one would be the F800GS and a heavy touring bike.

The 800GS looks great.

I ride every blind corner/curve like there is a screen door lying in my lane, just out of site.

There was, once just after I got my M/C license. A learning experience.

If you want to look at a Vrod, don't overlook the Street Rod variant. It has mid-controls and a larger gas tank. Much less of the folded taco feeling I got from sitting on the original version. I know some folks that have the Vrod, and they ride them short and long distances. It just depends what wo...
