XR400 ignition barrel

Hi,

Im looking for a new bike and have come across a tasty looking xr400. I'll be using it on the road but the XR doesnt have and ignition barrel, or keys.

Do you reckon this will be a problem, if yes, is it possible to fit 1 without me taking out 403 mortages.

any input appreciated...

I have a '90 ZZ-r 250 with exactly the same problem. It rides like a dream but seems to have a phobia of ticking over. I have been told that it could be that the carbs need balancing but i have never got round to doing it, i just keep a bit of pressure on the throttle when im stopped at junctions.

yeh it is definately metal. Its probably got black heat proof paint on it as the pipes on them are very prone to rusting due to cheap metal and high temps.

zzr250

i have a zzr 250 and the tubes that connect the airbox to the carbs(twin) keep coming off and leaving gaps where extra air/gravel/bovril can get into the carbs. :frusty: is it possible to make replacement tubes out of something and attach these on, or will it put the carbs out of kilter by having a ...

checked the bulb from the old indicator and that was a 12V 21W bulb. How do i check the ground connection? Of the two wires that go into the bulb connector, 1 goes inside and the other wraps around the bulb connector. I have noticed on a few of the bulbs that the filament is very close to the outsid...

Indicator Trouble

Hi,

I fitted a pair of mini indicators to my xlr a few weeks back but the bulbs keep blowing. they are 12v 23W things and i cant understand why they keep popping. It only seems to be the back ones that are blowing though.

Has anyone got any ideas what it could be and/or how to fix them?
