Re: SV-Wolf's Bike Blog

Hi Doc, yes I'm sorry not to be in touch. I'm now only posting on Facebook because it is the quickest place to upload photos and also seems to reach the most number of people. Apologies to anyone here interested, but because much of my time is spent on the road and because I'm finding wi-fi and inte...

Re: SV-Wolf's Bike Blog

Hi Doc Thanks for the video. Ulp! That was pretty scary. It belongs firmly in my 'Things I will never do' archive. I've ridden cornishes in India this high above the canyon floor, but nothing where the road was as narrow, technical or dangerous as this. No thanks. (Sorry couldn't open the video till...

Re: SV-Wolf's Bike Blog

Two days ago I was lucky enough to get asked to join an expedition to find 'Eagle lake', a small mountain tarn, way up in the Sandras mountains in Turkey. The lake can only be reached at the end of a long journey on forester's tracks. At this time of year the tracks are often washed away by the spri...

Re: SV-Wolf's Bike Blog

Hi Blues,

No, there is still a long journey to take before I get there. The apples come from Almaty (or Alma-aty) in Kazakhstan. Lots of good things here in Izmir, though. :-)

Re: SV-Wolf's Bike Blog

We have just had a colossal hailstorm here in Izmir. It lasted no more than ten minutes, but the huge chunks of ice are now lying inches deep in the streets. It's now back to being hot and sunny, but the air is fresher now. I'm not complaining. Hi DW. I saw a few cyclists in Istanbul but not many. B...

Some photos from Istanbul at night, mostly from the Beoglu (Pera) where I was staying. Beoglu is the old Venetian quarter, north of the Golden Horn on the European side of the city. http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q67/sv-wolf/925_zps7bruwewd.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q67/sv-wolf/916_...

Re: SV-Wolf's Bike Blog

If I were ever to win one of those TV quizzes where you get to select a prize, I think I would probably not choose a motorcycling weekend in Prishtine, at least, not if there were any chance of rain. When I crossed over into Kosovo from Albania this morning, the weather was cooler than yesterday, bu...

Re: SV-Wolf's Bike Blog

(See pics in post below.) I’m blogging this Sunday evening from the home of Ato and a young woman who seems to be his daughter or niece – I’ll call her his daughter. Ato, I would guess, is in his early 70s, wiry, strong as an ox, and with an easy laugh. He was an engineer (though ‘was’ is probably a...
