Yeah - I thought about that....that's why I've been powering down learner's books too. "Proficient Motorcycling" has been recommended by too many folks for me to pass up, so I'm getting that one tonight.

I don't want to pick up any bad habits, so I'm keeping myself limited to the basics.

In Louisiana the cost of the course is $25, but it's $100 if you rent a bike. Most of these courses won't let you bring your own bike if it's over 250 cc's, so most folks suck up the $100 cost and pay the full price.

Needless to say, I uncovered ...

I picked up a copy of "The Complete Idiots...." last night. It's amazingly easy to read, humorous, but also realistic and informative.

My friend tells me that "Proficient Motorcycling" makes for an excellent post MSF course.

When I bought this bike from the dealer, I was actually looking at 3 of them, but this one caught my attention the most.

The other two bikes were a 2003 Intruder 800 woth ONLY 300 miles on it, and a 1996 Honda Magna with 15K on it. I thought long and hard about all three.

Ultimately, and after ...

Newbie from Louisiana

Hello!

I just bought my very first bike! As of this past Friday, I am a proud owner of a 2001 Honda Shadow VLX. I'm very short in stature (at 5'4" and 160 pounds for a guy), so I'm very excited to have something that I feel comfortable riding as a first timer.

I'm taking the MSF class in early ...

Just bought a 2001 Honda VLX Shadow. At only 5'4" and 160 lbs, it's plenty of power for me....at least for now.
